The Adaptec SmartRAID Ultra 3254-16E (3254UC16EX2S) is a PCIe Gen 4 RAID controller with 16 external ports for SAS, SATA, and NVMe storage, suited to server and data-center teams building or expanding high-capacity storage systems.

Recommended For

  • Storage administrators connecting an external JBOD or drive enclosure to a server who need hardware RAID across a large SAS, SATA, or NVMe drive pool.
  • Storage labs and system builders running drive-test benches who need to benchmark multiple external drives and compare RAID, controller-cache, and SSD-cache configurations.
  • Server teams with repeat-access workloads that can benefit from SSD-backed maxCache; testing found that cache gains varied with workload size and access pattern.
  • IT teams managing mixed storage that want RAID arrays and HBA-mode devices on the same adapter, with remote configuration and monitoring tools.
