does it have a regular coaxial imput? Does it have its own tuner to scan channels?

Accepted Answer

Yes, it has the standard F type antenna or coax connector (with screw threads) which works with both antenna or cable input input via that connector. Yes, it has both an NTSC and HD tuner built in which will let you scan for channels (using the remote) and preset them.

If you are plugging the cable TV coax directly into the F type coax connector (bypassing your cable box output) then you will only receive unencrypted channels (sometimes referred to as QAM). This is not a fault of the TV but of cable suppliers encrypting almost all their content these days.

I plug in by over the air antenna connector and don't have any problems as this delivers an outstanding picture.

I highly recommend you get a pair of computer speakers with the standard 1/8" inch plug (on the back of this TV, same jack as the headphones connector) to get some very good sound out of this unit. You don't have to spend a lot on these speakers but they should be wall powered speakers (AC power). This TV also supports digital optical out speakers but they are pricey and I have not tested this function.

This continues to be a very good TV for me at a great price.

I bought this product roughly a year ago so I don't recall all the specific details about shipping and delivery time. There was either a free shipping special going, or shipping was fairly cheap because the monitor is very light. I don't remember being disappointed by the delivery time either, but I was not on a time schedule as it sounds like you might be. I can tell you that there is no wall mount included with the TV -- just the tabletop stand. Sorry I can't help you more on shipping details… We are very happy with the TV. My son uses it for his Xbox games and loves the Hi-def picture it is able to provide.

Question 3

Where do the coaxial cable, usb cable, etc., connect?  Is it on the bottom, side, or back of this?  It looks as though it's on the bottom left, but difficult to tell from pictures supplied.  Thank you.

The cables connect in the back from the left side (if looking from front). The connectors are set in about 3 inches from the outside of the screen so that if you want a neat look you should consider 90 degree connectors on your cables.

Question 4

Is this a new TV or Refurbished? How is the sound and viewing angle @ 10'?

I bought the TV new. The sound is as good as you can expect from a screen this size (it really isn't bad -- my son plays Xbox on it and has not complained about the sound). It has a good range of viewing angles, unless you are looking at the screen from below. The colors look a little funny at viewing angles below the screen.

Question 5

What's the setup menu like?   Is there any fine adjustment ability for the height and width of the display on the screen?    Or is it hopelessly dumbed down to a few "modes" like on my otherwise good looking current monitor that cuts off the top, bottom, left, and right; which means that I can't read what doesn't show up on the screen?

Sorry it took a while to respond… This one is stuck with a few modes much like your current one. However, my son uses it for X-box 360 and has not had any issues with things getting cut off at the edges of the picture. Hope this helps!

It looks as though, but not positive from picture, the cable connection, etc., are on the bottom left of this t.v.?  Could you please verify because I'm sick of these connections being on the side with other t.v.'s?

The conections are on the bottom left side of the tv as you look at it from the front.  Controls are also on the bottom left as you look at the tv from the front.

The picture is terrible.  Is this a HD television?

Hi! I was not happy with the picture I got from hooking my high end graphics card to it! I also hooked up an antenna, that picture looked good! and that's over the air HD! 
1080p is defined as HD TV also 720p is sometimes called HD!

I am happy with it because I wanted the old tuner and the multi  voltage features for overseas use!

Yes this TV has closed captions available from the setup menu. It has CC1, CC2, CC3, CC4, Text 1, Text 2, Text 3, Text 4 and a sub menu called Advanced Selection with Service 1 thru 6. But for most users all you will need will be CC1. There is also a option sub-screen under Closed Captioning which allows the user to change the font style, font size, edge size, edge color, foreground color, background color. foreground opacity, and background opacity. I have tried all these options and you can get some very nice and clear fonts. Like I said in my original review this TV set is very versatile.

The power cord is not removable.  Also, I might add, this is not a great option as a permanent monitor.  If you will use it on occasion as a monitor, not bad for the price, but the color & contrast is brutal.  It would be a lot better if you had the ability to lower the backlight in the video settings, but there is no such option.
