The AddOn DISPORT2HDMIA is an active DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter for connecting a DisplayPort-equipped computer to an HDMI display, making it suitable for users who need to bridge those two connector types.
Recommended For
- Office and home-office users connecting a DisplayPort-equipped desktop or workstation to an HDMI monitor for documents, browsing, and other everyday tasks, up to the listed 2560×1600 maximum resolution.
- Users who need to connect a DisplayPort computer to an HDMI display in a compact setup: the adapter has a short 0.2 m lead and an HDMI female connector for a separate HDMI cable.
- People connecting a DisplayPort source to an HDMI display for video and audio over one connection, rather than running a separate audio cable.
Real-World Use Scenarios
- Connect a desktop PC’s DisplayPort output to an HDMI monitor for everyday work; with a separate HDMI cable and compatible source and display, the adapter passes the picture through to the screen.
- Use a DisplayPort-equipped computer with an HDMI TV or projector for a presentation or video playback; the adapter bridges the ports, while the HDMI cable connects to the display.
- Add an HDMI monitor as a second screen to a workstation with an available DisplayPort output; whether it works as an extended desktop depends on the computer’s graphics hardware and display settings.
- Connect an older HDMI display to a newer computer that has a full-size DisplayPort output; the adapter converts the connection direction from DisplayPort source to HDMI display, not the reverse.
- Send audio along with video to an HDMI-connected display during a meeting or media playback; audio output depends on the computer, adapter support, and the connected display or audio system.
