The level settings, located below these controls, allow for attenuation or boosting of the recorded level as needed. The -10dB level attenuation (or PAD) is perfect for recording loud sound sources, such as live music or motorsport events, while the +20dB level boost is specifically designed for use with DSLR cameras.

This feature allows users to reduce the camera's preamp level (or mic-input level), effectively minimizing the amount of noise generated by the camera's audio circuitry.
