Question 1

is this mac compatable?

Accepted Answer

Your Memory in your laptop is not locked by manufacture, Apple has not gone that far, I would look at you chipset type mine is Sandy Bridge you can probably open a terminal on your Mac and type lspci. It should state what intel type chipset it is by #.

This memory is 204 pin and 1.5v it should be compatible with MAC's built in the last 3 years.
Just make sure it is not a AIR series I am sure those have soldiered memory and are not uppgradeable.

Question 2

Macbook pro. 13". early 2011. 2.3 gh intel core i5 processor - is this compatible memory?

Accepted Answer

Can't be sure, but I just bought this memory for my mid 2010 13' Macbook Pro 7,1, which is supposed to "need" 1067MHz Ram, but as long as I kept one of my old 2Gb, 1067MHz sticks in with one of the 8Gb, 1600 MHz sticks, it worked great, and I'm now running with 10 gigs of ram, downclocked to 1067Mhz.

When I put both 8Gb, 1600 MHz sticks in my machine, however, it did not boot, so it seems like it needs the lower refresh rate 1067MHz Ram in there with the higher rated 1600MHz Ram so that it knows to downclock it.

If you can sell off the second stick if your machine doesn't work with both, then this is probably a good investment. Just hang onto your old ram and try to combine the two if both the new one's don't work.

PS I'm not an expert so if your computer explodes please remember I'm just some guy on the internet who's computer is probably also about to explode.

Question 3

Will this work with Lenovo T420s laptop? Running VMware need more ram. Thanks

Accepted Answer

Hello Phil,

I was able to add this to a Dell latitude where the manufacture stated only 8GB would work.

First check to if pin compatible with the sockets.

Second make sure you have two sockets.

Third go to your chipset vendor, in my case Intel to see if the chipset will support 16 GB.

Fourth update the laptop bios to the latest revision.

If you have extra cash get a SSD this will lower the laptop heat envelope.

If you follow all the above I think your good to go.

Question 4

is this buffered or unbuffered?

Accepted Answer

unbuffered

Question 5

I have a ASUS ROG G75VX and I'm wondering if this will work for it?

I have the stock 2x4 for a total of 8g and two open slots.

I want to put these two in the other slots for a total of 24g of ram.

Is that going to work???

Accepted Answer

You should only use matched sets of RAM, minor differences in performance can cause problems, you definitely don't want to match 8gb sticks to 4gb, nobody runs 24gb RAM, standard increments are 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, and 128. You will see no benefit from anything over 8gb in a PC currently, 16gb will make you pretty much future proof. If you are having problems with too little memory then you need to figure out what is eating resources and terminate that program. If you are actually in need of more ram for some reason then just pull the 2x4gb out and replace it with 2x8gb for a total of 16.

Question 6

Will this be compatible with a mac book pro late 2013? Thanks

Accepted Answer

Sorry, but I do not know. I successfully used it in a Dell Precision M6700 laptop.

Question 7

I have a Dell laptop will 4 GB of DDR3 1333 mhz. Will this memory be compatibility?

Accepted Answer

Most likely. To be certain, you should go to the memory manufacturer's website and check. Most have a search tool that you can punch in the laptop model and see which memory sticks are compatible.

Question 8

I recently ordered this to upgrade ram on DELL M4800.When installed it doesn't let the Laptop to boot.
Newegg says this is compatible but the product doesn't.I'm sure I installed it properly.By any chance, did I receive a defective product ? or is the product incompatible unlike Newegg's Memory finder suggestion ?

Accepted Answer

Try just one stick at first to boot. If that doesn't work; its incompatible.

Question 9

l this work in a hp dv7 notebook. the current RAM is 4GB SODIMM Samsung 1333MHz?

Accepted Answer

If your Notebook only runs 1333mhz. It will downgrade and run at that speed with faster CL timings.

Question 10

Will this work with a Lenovo Y70 Touch that came with 16 Gig of RAM already? I think there are two slots unfilled but I'm not sure.

Accepted Answer

According to the specs of the Y70, it only supports 16GB max and only has 2 ram slots. So it would be logical to assume that you currently have 2 8GB sticks installed. So, this ram will work with the laptop, but you will not be able to install it in addition to what you already have.

TLDR: Buying this ram provides your laptop no benefit.
