It says it works with WINDOWS XP and WINDOWS VISTA.

Depends on what you mean by the questions. 
This is a DVR (digital Video Recorder) expander hard drive and meant to be used mostly with DRVs like the TiVo DRV. So it's compatible with DVRs but if your DVR is on a PC like TiVo for PC or WMC it'll work with Win 7 but you don't need this. You would also  be able to use it with a computer (Vista, win 7 and Win 8) for additional storage but there are other drives that are as big but cost less than this one. like the Western Digital Elements 1TB USB 3.0 External Hard Drive WDBUZG0010BBK-NESN (on newegg)

Question 2

Is this unit compatible with TiVo?

I have a Tivo ota Romano with 500 GB internal. I will only vouch for that particular -- but recent -- Tivo model when I say that connecting this physically took only 2 minutes. (You are told to turn off your tivo first, hook them together and turn them on in the recommended order.) After that, Tivo automatically went into a set up screen which gave me some options. It all worked straightaway! (There are online caveats warning that shows will be distributed across both units. So do not expect to disconnect this accessory and in some way pull off shows directly from the WD unit onto another device.) I am very pleased with the purchase --- However I got the impression that my unit, at least, is no longer manufactured. (I cannot say enough good things about WD technology, nor enough BAD things about Seagate -- in my experience. This is Western Digital :-) My unit was bought through Newegg but came from "elGeo" -- new and in sealed packaging-- at a considerably lower price...I seem to have luckily got one of the last ones they had.....

Is there a power supply included?

Yes there is a power supply included.  In fact it requires the external power it will not work wit just USB.  I'm using this to expand the memory of my TIVO but it has been a good drive for a long time.  I have a 3tb version on my computer and it also has been outstanding.  Hope this helps.

My cable company installed a ARRIS DCX3510-M HD dual Tuner DVR. I am just about out of recording space on the internal storage of the unit. Will this unit work on this piece of equipment? Is there anything specific that would need to be done if and when I install same. There is an eSATA port on the rear of the unit.

This hard drive worked great on my old Comcast Motorolla DVR but recently they made me upgrade to a new Xfinity DVR and the drive does not work with the new box. There is an eSATA port on the back of the new DVR but it won't recognize the drive. I would call your cable company and ask about compatibility before purchasing this item.

Question 5

I have used this on Dish network receiver for years. Does anyone know where I can get a 2TB size drive? I bought a 4TB and my receiver says I can only use up to a 2 TB. btw it is real easy to run out of room if you are recording HD 6 shiows at a time. lol

I would recommend instead of trying to increase your DVR recording time to 4TB, that if you don't have a capture card/hardware you may want to think about getting capturing hardware such as Hauppauge HD PVR 2 which will capture all your HD either live from TV or from your recorded programs on DVR and save on to your computer's internal or external HD.

Question 6

My comcast cable box (dvr) is dying and we need a new one.  We want to upgrade to the xfinity 1 platform.  Will I be able to save the shows I have on my DVR Expander and connect it to the new system?  I have a lot of shows to catch up on!

I had to replace my Dish TV hopper receiver.  I used the DVR expander to save my recordings. After I installed the new receiver, I transferred my saved recordings back to my Hopper DVR.  It worked flawlessly.  I connected via the USB port.  It also comes with eSATA port and cable.  I suggest you make sure that a usb port or eSATA port is available and active on the xfinity box. Also make sure the box's software allows for transfers of recordings.  Also note that my Hopper had to format the DVR expander before I could transfer.  Good luck

Looks like it to me.  I don't have FIOS, but worked perfectly with my Cox Cable Box.  This unit is listed on the Verizon FiOS website:

Has anyone successfully used the Newegg model WDBABT0010-NESN with the Comcast Motorola DVR?

I use mine with the Arris Gateway DVR in the WOW cable system and it setup and performs perfectly. I can record 6 shows at once and I have not had any malfunctions.

Question 10

Would this device work with my Comcast HD DVR (Motorola DCH3200)?  We started comcast service in January so its a 7 month old box and I would assume its one of their newer models. HDMI compatable

Devices are very specific on the hardware they support. Some rented cable boxes turn off the sata ports in their firmware.

I would call comcast first and ask if it is enabled. Then, if it is, ask if they have a list of supported devices.

I use mine on a tivo hd, which works great.

If Comcast has the port enabled, a search of the cable box model number and "hard drive comparability" will likely get you the info you need.
