Question 3

Will work to backup a new Macbook air? Does it come with an easy to use backup SW? (This for a present and I'm not a Mac user)
Thank you

Accepted Answer

It will work with any Macs since it depends entirely on the OSX. I would assume the person who receives the present already know how to run Time Machine. After connecting the drive to the machine, just run Time Machine and choose this drive as a backup drive. It's easy. No software comes with the drive because it doesn't need one.

Question 4

Hello all,
I have a failed hard drive on my mack book 2006, I am thinking of instead replacing the internal hard drive just buy this external hard drive but my question is : will it work as my primary hard drive where the IOS is installed on it?

Accepted Answer

NO. I can speak from first hand experience as I wondered the same thing, but found out upon opening the enclosure that the USB interface is soldered directly to the board, and no SATA interface to speak of. You need to bite the bullet and buy a mobile specific hdd or ssd.

Question 6

WILL THIS WORK WITH NY NEW APPLE I-MAC DESK TOP?

Accepted Answer

We have four macs and each has a WD Passport as a backup. The only time we had an issue was when Yosemite was installed on a 24" Mac. The Yosemite install brought things up to date and as there was no reason to go back before Yosemite, I formatted the WD Passport and started all over again.
All others are still working as expected and I wouldn't hesitate to use WD.

Hope that helps.
