Question 1

It says this mouse has programmable buttons, which is fine. What I'm wondering is if some of the buttons function like normal mouse buttons. Examples being Mouse3, Mouse4, Mouse5, etc. and are detected that way when playing games? I'm asking because I got a mouse from a competitor with many programmable buttons, but I'd like to have a mouse4, 5, etc. for games.

This mouse is a little more complex than just mouse 3, mouse 4, mouse 5. While it works that way in games, you can also program it to do things in a web browser, such as forward backward. page up/page down. Not all games recognize extra mouse buttons as a number, in which case just program the button to something like page up, or an F1-F10 button, that you are never going to use outside of game.  The Roccat swarm is a very solid platform, its a bit of a learning curve, but once you understand it your customization is huge. The smartcast allows you to hold one button on your mouse, and click another, to do a function different than the button alone. I like this mouse quite a bit, its a decent size, a touch light, but i came from using a Microsoft sidewinder. After that beast everything is going to feel light.

Question 2

What DPI's can be set with this mouse? Is it limited to the two settings of 3500 and 7000 DPI or can other values be set as well?

Their Roccat Swarm software suite has up to 5 DPI settings to switch through and they can be set from 250-7000 DPI or disabled to as many as you want. On top of that you have profiles that you can load all with their own set DPI configurations of you create to your likening for different games. You can go to ROCCAT's web site and download the software for free and check out its features before you even buy it. I love this mouse and the price is very affordable. Give it a try you want be disappointed.
