OTDR Launch Cable Box, 1km Single Mode 9/125, SC/UPC to SC/APC, Dead Zone Eliminator for 1310/1550nm

    • Eliminates OTDR dead zones at the near end so the first connector and the launch event can be measured accurately
    • 1000m (1km) of G.652D single mode 9/125 fiber coiled inside a sealed enclosure
    • SC/UPC input and SC/APC output connectors, female to female
    • Works at 1310nm and 1550nm for standard single mode OTDR testing
    • Suits pulse suppression, delay line use, installation and acceptance testing, training, and calibration
    • Non-metallic housing that will not dent, corrode, or conduct electricity
    • Compound latch gives a positive seal and locks shut for transport
    • Auto purge valve equalizes pressure with changes in altitude and temperature
    • Lightweight, rated for indoor and outdoor field use

1km OTDR Launch Cable Box (Single Mode, SC/UPC to SC/APC, 1310/1550nm)

An OTDR cannot measure the first stretch of fiber after its own port, which is why the near-end connector and the start of the link disappear into the dead zone. This launch box puts 1000 meters of single mode 9/125 fiber between the OTDR and the link under test, pushing the launch event clear of that blind spot so the first connector, the first splice, and the true end-to-end loss all show up on the trace. The same box can be used at the far end as a receive cable to capture the last connector.

The spool sits inside a sealed non-metallic case that will not dent, corrode, or conduct electricity, with a compound latch that seals positively and locks for transport, and an auto purge valve that equalizes internal pressure as altitude and temperature change. That makes it practical to carry between sites rather than keeping it on a bench. SC/UPC and SC/APC bulkheads are fitted for the two most common single mode interfaces, and the case has room for up to 1000 meters of fiber.

Typical uses are pulse suppression on OTDR traces, delay line work, installation and acceptance testing, technician training, and equipment calibration.
