- This 40G QSFP+ twinax cable is a lower-cost replacement for the Dell Networking 331-8158 assembly. It fits the 40G QSFP+ ports on Dell Networking switches, servers and adapter cards, and carries a maximum aggregate rate of 40 Gb/s across four 10 Gb/s lanes.
- The cable is factory programmed and tested, so the port recognises it at plug-in and it performs the same as the original. Being passive it needs no power beyond the host port and adds almost no latency, drawing a maximum of 1.5 W.
- At 1 metre it is built for short high-speed interconnects inside a rack, spine to leaf or switch to server, and costs considerably less than a pair of 40G optical modules with a fibre patch lead. Note the 30 mm minimum bend radius: QSFP+ twinax is thicker and stiffer than 10G SFP+ cable, so allow a little more room behind the rack when planning the run.
