Question 1

HP EliteOne 840 G9 vs Dell OptiPlex 7420 AIO: which should I choose for an office?

Accepted Answer

Both are business all-in-ones available with a 14th-generation Core i5-14500. Choose this HP configuration if its 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Windows 11 Pro, and included wired keyboard and mouse fit your setup. Consider the Dell if you specifically want its available options, such as a touchscreen or discrete Radeon graphics; configurations vary, so compare the exact SKU before buying.

Question 2

Should I get this EliteOne 840 with the Core i5-14500 or pay more for the i7-14700 version?

Accepted Answer

Choose the i5-14500 configuration for a business AIO centered on everyday office work and multitasking. The i7-14700 version has more CPU cores—20 versus 14—and is the better fit if your work regularly involves heavier parallel workloads. Both processors are offered in the EliteOne 840 G9 family; the specific memory and storage configuration depends on the SKU.

Question 3

Is the HP EliteOne 840 G9 with an i5-14500 worth choosing over the i3-14100 version?

Accepted Answer

Choose this i5-14500 model if you expect to run several applications at once or want more CPU capacity for demanding desktop tasks: HP lists the i5-14500 with 14 cores, compared with 4 cores for the i3-14100. The i3 version may suit lighter, cost-conscious office use; compare the price and memory and storage included in each exact configuration.

Question 4

Who is this all-in-one suitable for?

Accepted Answer

It is suited to a fixed workspace for mainstream business and office tasks. The listed configuration includes a 23.8-inch display, Intel Core i5-14500, 16GB of memory, a 256GB SSD, and Windows 11 Pro. It also includes a wired keyboard and mouse.

Question 5

Does it come with a keyboard and mouse?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The listed package includes an HP Wired Desktop 320K keyboard and an HP 125 wired mouse.

Question 6

Is this a good computer to take on trips?

Accepted Answer

No. It is an all-in-one desktop intended for a stationary workspace, not a travel computer. The product information does not list a battery, so plan to use it at a desk with power available.

Question 7

Is 256GB of storage enough?

Accepted Answer

A 256GB SSD can suit a Windows installation, everyday applications, and a moderate amount of work files. It may feel limited if you keep large media libraries or many bulky files on the computer; the provided information does not specify expansion options.

Question 8

Can the HP EliteOne 840 G9 be VESA-mounted?

Accepted Answer

Do not assume the VESA plate is included or compatible with this listing. A Reddit discussion about the EliteOne 840 G9 describes uncertainty about the required plate and configuration. Confirm VESA compatibility and included hardware for the exact SKU before buying.

Question 9

Can it run two external monitors?

Accepted Answer

The provided listing details do not specify its display-output ports. A Reddit owner of an EliteOne 840 G9 reports DisplayPort and USB-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode, but their post asks whether USB-C can drive an external monitor and does not resolve the question. Check the exact SKU’s port and display-support specifications before relying on a two-monitor setup.
