The adapter has two fully integrated 10 Gigabit Ethernet Media Access Controller (MAC) and SFP+ ports and carries two 10G single-mode fiber modules. In addition to managing the Ethernet MAC and PHY layers, the adapters provide traffic management for passing packets. Tasks such as TCP/UDP/IP checksums, offloads, compute tasks, and TCP segmentation are offloaded to the server host through hardware acceleration. The server adapter can also support iSCSI, FCoE, and PXE boot. This feature allows SAN and LAN traffic to share existing Ethernet infrastructure without the need for a dedicated iSCSI adapter.
The adapter includes advanced features that greatly increase the speed of iSCSI traffic and support iSCSI remote boot.
