it is WWAN 3G capable,  this makes it near T1 speed capable.
5 ghz would not be a problem.

I notice the HDMI input. Does the video allow input/output? As in, can this laptop be used as a monitor?

The HDMI is output only. I do not know of any laptops on the market that allow HDMI in, but it would be awesome.
