Question 3

No it does not have an SD card reader but that is easily solved by an inexpensive USB to SD card reader.

Question 4

can a usb 2.0 device be connected to the 3.0 usb port?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the port is physically the same and all USB 2.0 devices work fine with USB 3.0 ports. The only difference between 2.0 and 3.0 is that if you connect a USB 3.0 flash drive to a 3.0 port, it can transfer data more quickly than a 2.0 flash drive.

Question 5

Does laptop really have a 1080/FHD screen? On the Lenovo website there are 2 options: ssd and touchscreen without FHD or hdd with FHD. Was this laptop modified?

Question 6

Can an internal ssd be installed in this machine? I have an extra and was going to use it as an external but if I could install it inside that would be great. Thanks

Accepted Answer

There is a 2.5" SATA SSD installed that you could replace. There is also an NVMe slot to install another SSD. I put a 1TB NVMe and 500 GB SATA in mine because why not.

Question 7

Is the ram upgradable?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The motherboard supports up to 16 GB, and the CPU can handle a RAM speed of up to 2400 MHz. I chose to upgrade mine because the integrated GPU consumes ~2 GB of the installed RAM.

Question 8

Does this computer have an ethernet port? If so what speed?

Accepted Answer

Yes, it has an RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet port.

Question 9

Any issues with windows 10 on this machine?

Accepted Answer

The Windows 10 Home on this machine is not up to date. Make sure you do all the updates from Lenovo first using Lenovo Advantage. On mine the Lenovo Advantage software itself updated, and additional pieces of Lenovo automatic updating software were also installed (bridging software). Then I was able to download Lenovo updates. First update is a new BIOS. Then there were 4 critical driver updates, one of which was a new AMD VGA driver (which greatly improved the 1080p screen display in my case). Then there is one non-critical update. After that I updated Windows 10 itself. There were quite a few updates to that process as well. Keep downloading, installing/updating and rebooting until you are informed there are no more updates available. I ended up going through the Windows update process 3 or 4 times. With everything updated the system is working great.Enter an answer to this question.

Question 10

Does it have an IPS screen? Is the RAM dual channel? Is it soldered?

Accepted Answer

Definitely not IPS, the viewing angle isn't bad, but it's not great either. Bios reported the RAM as single channel, but I didn't open it to see if/how many ram slots it has.

FYI, it also lacks the option in bios to change the video ram allocation, so it always reserves 2GB, which is far too much on an 8GB laptop.
