Generate captivating and inspirational beats with the Behringer EDGE, an all-analog semi-modular percussion synthesizer that leverages old-school circuit designs into a modern performance instrument. Loosely based on the Moog DFAM, the EDGE is the perfect companion to the Behringer CRAVE synthesizer with a 24 dB multimode resonant ladder filter with high-pass and lowpass selections.
The onboard dual 8-step sequencer allows you to dial in pitch and velocity for wicked grooves and rhythms. The front panel is adorned with 44 real-time controls and a 15x10 I/O matrix patchbay, allowing you to interface with the entire world of Eurorack synthesizers. A power adapter is included.
Built to enhance the way you perform, the EDGE boasts a pure analog signal path, Dual VCOs with pulse and triangle waves, oscillator sync, and FM, plus a white/pink noise source for a huge range of sounds and timbres. Its dual 8-step sequencer with pitch and velocity controls can also provide you with a degree of control that will let you create any groove and rhythm you can imagine. If that wasn't enough, the EDGE's sequencer can go up to an astounding 10,000 BPM so you can turn your beats into mind-blowing waveforms that will surprise even the most hardcore synth wave fan out there.
The EDGE has a whole slew of modulation and controls that can help you shape your beats and basslines and give them the ability to transcend dimensions or just sound really awesome. These include a multimode 24 dB resonant ladder filter with a low and high-pass filter and three separate decay envelopes for pitch, filter cutoff, and amplitude for detailed control. Thanks to its semi-modular design, the EDGE can perform right out of the box with its default routing. But if you need a lot more control and want to sculpt your sound even more, the EDGE features a 15x10 I/O matrix for incredibly vast and flexible patching options. The matrix includes inputs for Control Voltages, Decay, Trigger, Velocity, Noise Level, External Audio Sources, Tempo, Modulation, and so much more.
The EDGE has 44 controls to give you direct and real-time access to all important parameters, all laid out in a highly intuitive format that puts the fun back into your beat creation. Input and output connections include MIDI In, MIDI Out/Thru, USB, OSC 1 CV, OSC 2 CV, OSC Decay, ADV/CLOCK, Trigger, Velocity, Noise Level, 1-2FM AMT, EXT AUDIO, Tempo, Play/Stop, VCF MOD, VCF Decay, VCA CV, and Pitch. An external MIDI keyboard, footswitch, or expression pedal can be connected to the EDGE so you can have even more control over your beats and basslines. If one EDGE isn't enough for you, you can chain multiple EDGE's for more intricate combinations.
CRAVEs sequencer allows you to program up to 32 steps of notes and rests and save them as a pattern. You can record, save, and recall up to 64 patterns, all of which can be stored in eight banks, each holding up to 8 patterns. Your sequences can be played either in Keyboard mode, where you create and store the pattern, or Step mode, which allows you to interact while composing a pattern. The onboard arpeggiator features eight patterns (you can use just by playing a chord, which the arpeggiator then sequences through your selected pattern. Both the sequencer and arpeggiator in the CRAVE are fun, mesmerizing, and totally addictive.
Thanks to its dedicated and fully analog low-frequency oscillator (LFO), CRAVE lets you choose from either triangle or square waveforms and features an LED that provides visual feedback of the adjustable LFO Rate.
In addition to the great sound-sculpting features already mentioned, the CRAVE still has more to offer. The noise generator can be used as a modulation source to create distortion-like effects, which will send your solo soaring into the stratosphere. Glide (portamento) lets you sweep seamlessly over time from one note to the next, creating smooth-as-silk transitions that few other instruments can emulate. You can even modulate the pulse wave via the LFO, envelope, or manually, for sounds ranging from mild to wild.
For those who want the numbers, CRAVE has 47 controls, all laid out in a highly intuitive format that puts the joy back into your music creation. You can expand CRAVEs tone-sculpting capabilities beyond your wildest dreams by utilizing the 18x14 I/O matrix for incredibly vast and flexible patching options.
