Overview
The BME688 Environmental Sensor Module is a high-performance, AI-capable air quality and weather sensing solution that integrates four key environmental sensing functions: temperature,
humidity, barometric pressure, and gas detectionall in one compact board. Built around the advanced Bosch BME688 chip, this sensor is ideal for indoor air monitoring, smart home devices,
and environmental tracking systems.
Supporting both I2C and SPI communication protocols, this module offers flexible connectivity for various controllers. The I2C address is configurable, and it supports bus cascading, allowing
multiple sensors to operate on the same bus. The CS pin enables switching to SPI mode as needed, and the onboard voltage level translator ensures compatibility with both 3.3V and 5V MCUs,
including Rasp-berry Pi, Ar-duino, ESP32, and Rasp-berry Pi Pico.
What sets the BME688 sensor apart is its
AI capability: it supports training-based gas detection, allowing developers to recognize specific gas mixtures or environmental conditions through
Boschs AI Studio. This makes it ideal for applications like breath detection, air purifier optimization, food spoilage monitoring, and custom environmental classification.
Key Features:
Measures temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, and gas (VOC) concentration
Supports I2C (default) and SPI communication; configurable I2C address
Onboard voltage translator for compatibility with 3.3V and 5V systems
Includes sample code and online documentation for Raspberry Pi, Arduino, ESP32, and Pico
AI-enabled gas detection for smart sensing and pattern recognition
Whether you're building an IoT weather station, a smart air quality monitor, or a machine learning-based environmental classifier, the BME688 Environmental Sensor Module delivers accuracy,
flexibility, and intelligence for your next embedded project.
