This digital audio cable carries an RCA plug at one end and a BNC plug on the other, to allow interconnection between professional or high-end gear and consumer equipment. Our coaxial digital audio cables are made using precision
SDI coax: cable thats been designed to carry digital signals of almost any practical bandwidth, well in excess of the practical requirements of S/PDIF. The most important characteristic in a coaxial digital audio cable is impedance stability, which translates to lower return loss. In order to keep the tight impedance of the SDI coax as consistent as possible from end to end, we use Canare connectors. These are a three-piece crimp design in which the impedance of the cable is carried well into the connector rear by having the exposed dielectric run inside a brass tube the size of the cables shield. Consistent dimensions means consistent capacitance and inductance, which mean consistent impedance. The Canare RCA also guarantees a perfect fit to the RCA jack the ground contact grips the jack with a 360 degree leaf spring arrangement, giving firm, definite engagement but also ensuring that the plug can be easily removed from the jack without damage. Our digital audio cables are assembled in our shop in Seattle, Washington by experienced workers.
