A non-intrusive network TAP with power fail bypass capable of monitoring/sniffing 10/100/1000Base-T networks using your PCs USB 3.0 or Ethernet ports. This bypass TAP provides a fail-safe mechanism to allow traffic to continue to pass in case of power loss. It also allows Power-Over-Ethernet (POE) to pass-through. This device can be used with free Wireshark, tcpdump or equivalent packet analysis software. It can be powered from a PC or wall outlet using the USB 3.0 port or a 5vdc wall transformer (Micro-B connector). It uses a port mirroring function of a switch to capture traffic to the monitor ports.
Capturing of CRC errors and jumbo packets is supported on Ethernet port only. In a handheld/mountable non-conductive coated aluminum metal enclosure.
