With its unique dual-mode functionality, the X2USB-EFD can operate as either a Host unit (connected to a computer) or a Device unit (connecting up to four USB peripherals such as keyboards, mice, printers, cameras, or storage devices). This flexibility makes it ideal for scalable deployments and dynamic system configurations.

The transceiver supports both copper (RJ45) and fiber (SFP) network connections, automatically switching between them for optimal reliability. With support for USB 2.0 speeds up to 480Mbps, it ensures stable and responsive performance even for bandwidth-demanding peripherals. Installation is simplified with Power over Ethernet (PoE) support, reducing cable clutter and eliminating the need for separate power adapters in many setups.
