Built around the LSI/Broadcom SAS3808 Tri-Mode controller, this HBA is Compatible with LSI 9500-8i and delivers 12Gb/s SAS, 6Gb/s SATA and PCIe 4.0 NVMe connectivity through a single SlimSAS SFF-8654 x8 internal connector. With PCIe 4.0 x8 host bandwidth, it provides the throughput and low latency you need for modern high-density HDD and SSD storage in servers and home-lab builds. Shipped with HBA IT Mode (Non-RAID) firmware, the adapter exposes each drive directly to the OS, making it ideal for ZFS, FreeNAS/TrueNAS, unRAID, Proxmox and ESXi where clean JBOD passthrough is required.

Out of the box, the included SFF-8654 to 8 SATA fan-out cable lets you directly attach up to 8 SATA HDDs or SSDs. When you are ready to scale, you can add an external SAS Expander or Tri-Mode backplane to fan out to hundreds of SAS/SATA devices or NVMe bays without changing your host platform. The PCIe 4.0 x8 interface is backward-compatible with PCIe 3.0 slots, protecting your investment as you upgrade platforms. Support for SlimSAS SFF-8654 cabling keeps your wiring clean in tight cases and 1U/2U chassis. This HBA is a strong choice for NAS servers, home-lab clusters, backup boxes and lab testbeds where performance, flexibility and reliability matter more than RAID offload.

Note: the included SFF-8654 to 8 SATA cable is designed only for SATA drives. It cannot be used with SAS or NVMe U. 2/U. 3 drives. To connect SAS drives, please use SFF-8654 to SAS cables (for example SFF-8643/8482) or choose our matched HBA + cable kit for the drive type you plan to deploy.
