Connect power to the Raspberry Pi 5

Enter the Raspberry Pi system terminal.If you are using LIR2032 battery with chargingfunction, you can add RTC battery chargingconfiguration of Raspberry Pi 5 in config.txt,

But if you are using battery without chargingfunction, you can't add this configuration.Otherwise the battery will be damaged!

Step 5

To prove that the RTC battery is working, powerdown and unplug the Raspberry Pi 5, and aftera few minutes, turn the system back on.Observeif the Raspberry Pi system time is updated.

 

• If the RTC battery is not powered. The RaspberryPi system time will remain unchanged at the timeof power failure
• If the RTC battery is successfully poweredthe system time will be updated
