Overview The PCIe To M. 2 SFP HAT+ is a multifunction PCIe expansion board designed for Raspberry Pi 5 storage and wired network development. It combines M. 2 NVMe SSD expansion and Gigabit SFP fiber Ethernet capability in one compact HAT+ adapter board, making it suitable for NAS, edge gateway, industrial communication, data storage and embedded development projects. Using the ASM1182e PCIe expansion chip, this PCIe HAT+ board divides the single PCIe interface of Pi 5 into two independent PCIe functions. One function is used for the M. 2 NVMe SSD interface, and the other is used for the Gigabit Ethernet controller solution.
The M. 2 slot supports NVMe SSDs in 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 sizes. Users can install a compatible NVMe SSD for system boot, data logging, file storage, lightweight NAS, development server applications or edge computing workloads. For wired network expansion, the board provides a standard SFP port with RTL8111H + RTL8213B Ethernet solution. When used with a compatible SFP optical module, it supports Gigabit fiber Ethernet connection for long-distance wired network transmission, lab testing, industrial gateway projects and network development applications. 2 SFP HAT+ follows the Pi HAT+ standard and includes an onboard EEPROM and 2×20Pin header for easier board identification and integration. Onboard status LEDs help indicate SSD activity, link state and board working status during setup and debugging.
