Question 1

Is the GIGABYTE GP-UD750GM PG5 ICE overkill for a mid-range PC build?

Accepted Answer

For systems using components such as a Ryzen 5 9600X with an RX 9060 XT, 750 W may provide more capacity than the current build requires. The extra capacity can leave room for future upgrades, but a lower-wattage model may be sufficient if no major upgrade is planned.

Question 2

Is this PSU a reasonable choice for a new white gaming PC build?

Accepted Answer

It is a reasonable capacity and efficiency choice for many current gaming builds, with 750 W output, 80 PLUS Gold certification, active PFC, and multiple protection functions. The main trade-off is that buyers should compare price, platform quality, noise, warranty, and independent testing rather than relying on the Gold rating alone.

Question 3

What should I do if I lose the PSU’s native 16-pin GPU cable?

Accepted Answer

Request a replacement cable from GIGABYTE or use a cable explicitly confirmed as compatible with this exact PSU model. Modular PSU cables are not universally interchangeable, so using an unverified cable creates a connection and hardware-safety risk.

Question 4

Is 750 W enough for a gaming PC with an RTX 5070-class graphics card?

Accepted Answer

It can be suitable for many RTX 5070-class builds, provided the complete system’s estimated power draw remains below 750 W and the GPU’s required power connector is supported. Confirm the specific GPU recommendation and cable requirements before buying.

Question 5

Does this PSU support 240V input?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The GP-UD750GM PG5 ICE supports an input range of 100–240V, making it suitable for electrical systems within that range. Use the correct regional power cord and follow local electrical requirements.

Question 6

Will this power supply work with my graphics card?

Accepted Answer

It can work with a compatible graphics card, but compatibility depends on the card’s required wattage and power connectors. This model provides 750W and active protections, but the supplied cable and connector configuration is not specified in the provided product data, so verify the GPU connector requirements and included cables before purchase.

Question 7

Is this power supply quiet?

Accepted Answer

The unit uses a 120mm fluid dynamic bearing fan, which is designed for smooth, durable cooling. However, the provided specifications do not include a noise rating or zero-RPM operating mode, so it should not be described as silent.

Question 8

Is 750W enough for a gaming PC?

Accepted Answer

The 750W capacity is suitable for many mainstream gaming and productivity PCs, provided the combined CPU and GPU power requirements stay within the system builder’s recommended range. Check the graphics card manufacturer’s wattage recommendation and leave additional headroom for transient loads and future upgrades.

Question 9

What protections does this power supply provide?

Accepted Answer

The GP-UD750GM PG5 ICE lists over-voltage, over-power, short-circuit, under-voltage, over-current, and over-temperature protection. These safeguards are intended to reduce the risk of damage from several common electrical and thermal fault conditions.

Question 10

Is the UD750GM PG5 ICE safer than the older GIGABYTE P750GM?

Accepted Answer

The UD750GM is the preferable choice because it belongs to a newer UD-GM platform that GIGABYTE introduced after reliability concerns involving early P750GM and P850GM units. Tom's Hardware identified the UD750GM as the successor using an upgraded platform, while GIGABYTE issued a statement concerning the earlier P-GM models. Buyers should treat the UD750GM and P750GM as different product generations and verify the exact model and revision before purchasing.
