It's meant for desktops and laptops. For desktops, you may need a 2.5" to 3.5" mounting kit.

does this come with cloning software?

Comes with really good cloning software. Also downloadable from Samsung if you get OEM drive.

Has anyone else received this in a white no frills box stating (Not for Retail Sale) ?

Just got off the phone with Samsung. This drive is NOT supported. It's meant as an OEM drive for builders. If this drive dies, Samsung will not replace it. ZERO warranty. I'm returning mine today.
