Question 1

Should I buy an EVGA PSU or Corsair PSU? I'm looking at the EVGA Supernova 1000w 80 Plus Platinum PSU VS this one. The EVGA is $100 cheaper but people are saying that Corsair is the way to go etc. I have been hearing good things about the EVGA PSU but I want your honest opinion. All I want is a solid 1000w or more PSU that is reliable and will last me a very long time. BTW I am a serious buyer and price doesn't matter.

If you are serious about your power, this is the psu to get. This psu is powerful and has a lot of options specifically tailored to clocking and power draw in general.  I have two gigabyte HD 7970s and a 5 ghz 8 core with 32 gigs of corsair dominator ram, along with 8 case fans and a quad custom built water cooler. And I have yet to have any problems with this psu. I have even dropped water on this psu and still no problems. It also has the option to create virtual rails and tie different parts of your computer to the virtual rail. So you could tie your gpus to one virtual rail and run the rest of the system on another rail. Technically I don't think there's any limit to the virtual rails. I know I have personally run one rail for my gpus, one rail for my ram and processor, and one rail simply for the 8 case fans along with the custom quad water cooler I built. I also was looking at another psu before I decided on this one and I will never use another psu again. This is absolutely the best power supply I have ever used. Definitely recommended.  Especially if the price doesn't scare you.

does this have a 8 pin  connector for my graphics card?

This Power supply has 6+2 connectors so you can use 6 or 8 pin depending on the video card you have(it isn't mentioned which card you are trying to run).  I currently run two Nvidia GTX 680's.

I just purchased this card, MSI Radeon R9 290X GAMING 4GB 512-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP. I have a 750W psu ORSAIR HX Series HX750 750W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI CrossFire. do i have to purchase this PSU in order to power my video card?

It depends on how much power the video card uses. If the computer is working fine. Find out how much the card will uses to work.  1200w -750w =450w left over if the card run on more than 450w  there mite be a problem.  Same if u don't upgrade and keep the 750w PSU. it better 2 have more than less. I hope this help better safe than sorry.

yes - operating since august 2013, no problems. 7 year warranty. However, you may want to research what is available now as the market changes very quickly. This currently powers Asus Deluxe/Dual, 32G ram, 4 1TB Seagate Enterprise Drives configured as RAID 10, Samsung 840 pro SSD, 4770k processor, Corsair H110, NOCTUA fans & the 560 GTX will be upgraded when NVidia releases the Maxwell 800 series. (If you get an Asus board, do not recommend Asus AI suite - Horrible)

Unless you are re-wiring there is zero chance of it of burning out your parts. The power supply is not want dictates how much power is pulled into the components just how much is available. That is not to say a messed up power supple can not ruin your hardware, but it takes water in the PSU, a massive power spike, or modified wiring to do that. A low end power supply can short but even when Corsair was having issue with these units they simply did not supple the needed power causing the systems to reboot constantly.

I've red the PSU is kinda long and the cables tend to be short. I own a 780T tower from Corsair also. Would it be OK to put it in? Will the cables reach everywhere?

I have a Cooler Master Cosmos Series full-size tower and everything reached fine.  I had one cable that I had some difficulty with the plug on one end, and the Corsair customer support was fantastic.

I'm thinking of upgrading my case and I might upgrade my power supply.  My current case has the PSU up on top, the case I'm looking at is at the bottom.  What I'm concerned about is, the cpu power connectors are at the top of the board on my EVGA x-79 Dark.  Would the power cables be long enough to route from the bottom of the case, to the top of the mother board in the Corsair Carbide 500R?  I ask because I ran in to that issue when I did a build for my brother with the psu on the bottom in the Carbide 400R.

You should be just fine. The CPU cables that come with the AX1200i are about 24 inches long. Ive had luck stretching them across the back of a NZXT Phantom 820 which is a bit taller then the 500r. If you do face any problems, you can always add extensions which will get you the length you need without much power loss. Most of them look great too.

I dont know about 3 760s simply because ive never heard of anyone being that insane but i know for sure it will handle 2 with your oc cpu.
