LIAN LI PC-V1000BPlus II Black Aluminum ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Put together great, comes apart fantastic, and overall just one of the best cases around. It looks like the wheels would come off if that really bothers you, but once you fill up the case, it would probably be difficult. They are not exorbitantly big though or anything and very tastefully done. Case feels solid and the amount of fans and their placement provide for excellent air circulation. This case and Zalman 9500 are keeping my Core 2 Duo e6700 idle at 25C. It felt like the case was built for my setup. I was very impressed.

Cons: Not necessarily a con, because they do warn you, but I was installing a 3 1/2" floppy drive for RAID purposes and they warn you to leave 5cm clearance between the front of the drive and the part on the case where it meets. If you don't do this it won't read the disc correctly because it won't fully seat. I thought I was fine cause it gave the "click" noise that the drives make when the discs are in, wasted a few hours on it, ended up taking the drive out to get ready to return it, and it started working. So make sure you leave plenty clearance.

Overall Review: The important stuff: Core 2 Duo e6700 MSI P6n Diamond 680i 2 WD 10,000 RPM in RAID 1 MSI Geforce NX8800 GTX HD-OC 768mb 2gb Crucial Ballistix DDR2-800 Ram Zalman 9500 PC Power & Cooling 750W PSU (825W Peak) Everything fit very well. The PSU was a little big and I had to take out a support piece, but I *was* able to keep the hdd bay that others reported having to remove. It was a snug fit, but in a good way, not too tight. The Zalman fit on the CPU just fine even with extra fan that comes on the North Bridge of the P6N Diamond. Left me maybe 1/4" to 1/2" clearance on 1 side of the case, and the same distance for the North Bridge fan. I got the Zalman 9500 over the Zalman 9700 because I didn't want to have issues with fitting it. I've heard some people got it fine, but didn't want to take a chance. The 9500 fits fine, but I'm not convinced a 9700 would have. Like mentioned in the Pros, the case keeps everything extremely nice and cool.

Pros: This is a very good case. I was a little worried about buying my Corsair modular power supply as several reviews have indicated that modular power supplies are not good for this unit. Well, the Corsair 620W power supply unit fits the unit like a glove. Lian Li has really put a lot of thought into the design. You can fit any size ATX power supply into this unit, including the monstrous 1KW power supply by PC Power & Cooling. This power supply is 9 inches long; therefore, you need at least 11 inches of space for this power supply and cables. To use that power supply in the Lian Li, you need to just remove one of the hard drive cases and the bracket separating the hard drive cages and you have 11.5 inches for the power supply. Lian Li has designed the unit so that you can remove these items to fit long power supplies. You will still have one drive cage left to install 3 hard drives.

Cons: I wish the directions were a little better that come with the case. You have to kind of guess what goes where.

Overall Review: Order the Lian Li 4 hard drive cage for the 5.25 inch bay (uses up 3 of the 5.25 inch bays) and you can install 4 additional hard drives. The Corsair 620W power supply unit fits the Lian Li case like a glove (you do not need to remove anything from the case to install this unit). The Corsair unit is rated at 620W at 50 deg C continuous duty. All the other power supplies at Newegg.com are rated at 40 deg C. According to Seasonic's web site (the Corsair power supply is made by Seasonic), you need to reduce the power rating of the power supply by 20% for rating it from 40 deg C to 50 deg C. Which means that at 40 deg C, the Corsair 620W unit is rated at 775 Watts! According to Corsair's forums, this unit has been tested successfully in a quad-SLI configuration! Pros: To start things off, I would like to say how gorgeous the finish on the case is; it's nice. On the inside you will find a well layout easy to work with design with VERY little plastic. I upgraded from to this case from a Lian-Li PC65, and My Cpu temp dropped 10 C, and MB 10 C, ambient 12 C. Albeit the stock fans are a little on the loud side I replaced them with some lesser CFM, silent fans and about a 1~2 C increase, worth the difference for my ears. I also purchased a Kama Bay Type product from Lian Li so I could put another 120mm fan in the from, the finish is the exact same. Construction is very sturdy and I can see this case lasting forever. The Upsidedownness of the Mobo had no negative effects for heatpipes (as it should never anyways). Will fit a 11" GPU plus another.

Cons: *Not Cons to ME, just Tips* You will have to remove the first divider on the bottom for Modular power supplies, as well as my PCP&C Silencer PSU, I had to remove the first HD Cage as well. So I only have enough slots for 3 HD, I do not even use them since I have HD Silencers that go in 5.25 bays. Removing the cage gives you PLENTY of room down below to store those extra cables though. Be sure you remove what you need before the Mobo installation since you wont be able to access the screws.

Overall Review: This is a stunning case and I am so so so glad I shelled out for the purchase. Treat yourself to a wonderful product. And if you are really into case windows, you can find just a window side panel for these for 35$. All of the case fans come with rubber mounts, that was a nifty idea on Lian-Li's part as I have never seen that before. My Set Up: Gigabyte GA-P35-DS4 @ 32C / e6750 @ 3.94 GHz @ 29C/51C / Crucial PC-6400 @ 1082 Mhz 5-5-5-21 @28C / 2 HD 3870s @ 34C/49C 865/1175 ;BTF90 HSF and Thermalrite V2 for the 3870s I love it!!

Pros: Just gorgeous. Plenty of room. Smart segregation of major components. Great airflow. Build quality is a ten. No sharp edges. Quiet enough. With a bleu LED on the MoBo chipset cooler and a red LED on the graphics board, there's just enough light escaping through the intakes/exhausts screens for cool effect in low lighting. They've taken an already great case and made it better with the CPU cooling duct and the side exhaust, 120mm adjustable fan.

Cons: Minor nits: no slide out MoBo tray. No reset button. Be very careful about your selection of a power supply or you'll be cutting metal.

Overall Review: 3rd Lian Li case, and this one is the best. If noise is important, make sure the rest of your components are as quiet as possible. Good airflow inevitably means passages for sound to escape. Yes, its a lot of money for a computer case, but friends who know computers will drool, and you can pass it on to your grand kids.

Pros: Great looks, light, Good construction. Decent amount of room. Great aluminum casters.

Cons: Noisy. Does hardly anything to cut down fan/HD noise. Resonates - this is the case with many aluminum cases. I had to Dynamat half the case and had to use silicone fan/power supply dampners and the thing still hums.

Overall Review: Difficult, but not impossible to use with modular power supplies due to space constraints. Works reasonably well with my Seasonic m12 500w PS.

Pros: Solid construction. Nice finish. Out of the ordinary design that works well. Quiet fans overall.

Cons: Had to remove one of the hard drive compartments to get the power supply to fit. Any PSU over 6 inches will require you to do this. No biggie for me since I'm only using 2 raptors, but for those that use a ton of internal storage drives, you might look at a different case.

Overall Review: Would buy again. Can't go wrong with a Lian-Li. Would have given it a 5 if they gave just a hair bit more room for todays beast of PSU's.

Pros: The case is beautiful! Easy to work with, great design and functionality.

Cons: The interior part that holds cd/dvd drives and the front bezels in place wasn't centered correctly. This made the floppy bezel scrape the case and scratch it..which shows since it's painted black..GRRRR Finally I stood on the case to bend it centered correctly, which worked...

Overall Review: I've been a Lian Li fan since I was a teenager when I saw one of their cases in a store and bought it. The quality and cuts of that case was top notch. Unfortunately this case isn't of that same quality. The screws, grills, and everything just feel 'rougher'. A fair price for the drop in quality for this case would be around $150. Still a great product.

Pros: Great layout, a real breeze to work with. I've built 5 systems now, and this was by far the easiest build. Large fans keep things quiet, I couldn't hear this thing over the power supply fan on my old computer. The side fan ends up right above the video card, which is nice. The power supply location is terrific, as are the hard drive cages. It helps to keep cables tidy even with a non-modular PSU.

Cons: Personally would have preferred to not have a Firewire connector on the front since my mobo didn't have pins for it.

Overall Review: I purchased an extra CD/DVD-ROM bezel from another vendor (Newegg doesn't seem to carry it), and unfortunately the color didn't match perfectly. Not sure if I just got a bad bezel or if the case is slightly different from other LL cases. The extra bezel also allowed me to remove the floppy drive cage which gave it a nicer, more modern look. Easily fit a Zalman 9700. Front port connections were "plug and play" on the Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3.
