Previous Lian Li cases have been high quality builds, this one is aluminum. It's well ventilated, holds a lot of drives, the machining is accurate so everything fits well. I've been able to shoe-horn twelve hard drives using a couple of semi-custom brackets. 10 are 3.5" 2TB WD Green drives, 1 is a 2.5" 2TB Green drive, and one is a 2.5" 750 GB WD 7200 RPM drive for the system. Also use a Slim (laptop type) Blu Ray burner (Sony), and there is room for another 750 GB 2.5" drive as backup for the system drive that can be enabled if the primary drive fails. 22 GB of storage for Media and an FTP server in a relatively small package (the power supply is rated at 700 watts and runs cool).

Question 2

This case is almost perfect... but I'm most worried about the placement of the PSU.  It's not quite the bottom of the top and it seems from the pictures that the PSU would mount on the side with the air intake facing the motherboard?  It doesn't seem that it could get any fresh cold air.  Does anyone have issues with the PSU getting warm/hot??

I bought this case to build a machine for my father-in-law.  I used an Asus Maximus Gene mb and a core i7 4770k, with a 750W Thermaltake PS.  Father-in-law is in his 80s, and if there were anything wrong with the machine I would definitely hear about it.  I encourage him to leave it on all the time.  That said, I didn't overclock the machine.  He's not a gamer, and I wanted him to have a rock-solid machine that would last the rest of his life with almost no maintenance.

I monitored the board/cpu temps for a solid week before I gave it to him.  I noticed nothing out of the ordinary.

The case was a delight.  Everything fitted exactly, without fuss or skinned knuckles.  I was able to remove an unneeded drive cage and the PS was modular, so the interior of the case is uncluttered and remains easy to work in.

My only complaints are 1) the 8 screws on each side to hold on the side panels.  Getting them on and off is fiddly.  Given that my father-in-law will never be digging around in the guts of his machine, this is a nit that's almost down to noise level; and 2) I hate the blue fans.  I tried changing them--no good, non-standard screws.  I tried clipping the LEDs out.  But I missed half of them.  If I were to buy this case again, I'd know that there's a blue LED on EVERY corner of the front fans, and I'd clip all eight.  If you like blue LEDs, keep 'em.  If you don't, clip all eight.  Again, almost down to noise level.

$150 is a good price for this case.  $100 is a steal.

Question 3

What kind of cable connection does the SD card reader have?

I believe it was direct connect through the USB connection on the motherboard. The port is already for plug and play, the case is great, I  have 2 7890 video cards in it and it runs cool, tight but cool.

Question 4

Will this allow fitment of Cooler Master 212 Evo cpu coller?

I believe that it will but your better off going with an updraft cooler that sits parallel to the motherboard as opposed to the 212 evo cause it might bump into the power supply as the power supply is mounted on its side in front of the mother board and there isnt much room underneath the mother board for the retaining bracket because the right side panel is what the motherboard bolts to as opposed to a different case where the motherboard mounts to an interior panel and standoffs with a cutout.

Question 5

Is this case big enough to run 2 GTX 780's in SLI mode on a Gigabyte GA-G1 Sniper M5 micro-itx motherboard??

In short, yes it will fit. Unfortunately, the two cards may not be able to install in the preferred slots (pcie x16 slots 1 and 4). If you are able to install them in those slots, the lower card will almost likely be restricted of air, resulting in higher temperatures.

Question 6

Is there a way to remove the DVD drive bay front cover?

Yes it just unscrews and in fact I replaced it with a 5.25" adapter that holds a slim DVD and 2 x 2.5" Hot swap drive bays as mine is acting as the Home Server with an additional 7 3.5" HDD for storage. I also used a 4 x 2.5" HDD hot swap bay in the same place.

can the led lights be turned off?

they are wired into the power supply, I suppose you could disable it by plugging it into a 2 wire fan adapter. But there is no switch to turn the lights off. It is a great box, I currently have 6 of these I have built for myself.

Question 8

In the manual it suggests that you can put two 2.5" drives under the 5.25" bay. What is the height limitation for those drives? Thanks!

I put 2 SSD Corsair drives in mine,,,,  probably not more the 8 mm each in height, best to drop out all 3,5 bay stuff and use Velcro in any open space, by the way I have 2 of these and want more, it's tight with 2 video cards but it is quiet and solid! I put the drives side by side in both boxes.

Can you fit a 240 mm radiator in this case ?

Question 10

What is the size of the rear fan slot?  I don't see it documented anywhere.  I can clearly see from the pictures it has a spot to install a fan in the back of the case.  Is it a 120mm or a 140mm?
