Can you see a LED fan through the front mesh?

You most likely could see some of the fan LEDs. I did not use any. However I would also recommend a different case as I found this case to be a little more difficult than I like. Such as I had to rechase all of the motherboard ground supports, the drive covers are annoying to remove, many sharp edges are within the case and I really disapprove of how the hard drive had to be mounted. Also writing became a real mess.

Will this really fit a full ATX motherboard?

Yes, it does fit a full ATX mobo, BUT it is definitely a VERY snug fit. It took me quite a while to fit everything in. To be honest, for my first build I should've gotten a larger case to make it easier on myself but I am enjoying the smaller footprint.

Is there a comparable alternative available?

several but focus on one point budget, looks, and lastly functionality (not in that order either)
