Does the rear I/O shield come off the case?

Yes, it will pry out. Be extremely careful not to break anything on this case though. It is very very flimsy. You will be lucky if the faceplate arrives intact.

Will case hold a MSI Z170A SLI motherboard with two ZOTAC GeForce GTX 970 4GB AMP! Extreme Core Edition video cards in SLI?

The main space restriction is between the back of the case and the slots for the harddrive, and this case, although barely, fit my diamond r9 270x which is 2 inches longer than the zoac gtx 970, so you should have no problem.

Would this power supply carry a 750ti?  Or is it too crappy?

Quite Frankly we have purchased about 4 of these and while the 4 usb
are nice, overall the case is light and the power supplies all had to
be replaced.
We are running a GTX660 and it would black screen with the built
in power supply

What boards would go with this case?

This case can fit any motherboards up to ATX size. It can fit microATX and even ITX (smaller than microATX). If you want a bigger board then you have to find a bigger case to support.

does it have an optical drive in the photos it looks like it does in the pictures but i can't tell?

No, optical drive is not included. This is a bare case with power supply - nothing else.  I have found it to it to be a very good case.  Well designed, good power supply and lots of USB ports on the front.

In this case compatible with any motherboard, if not is the outlet panel on the back removable?

The faceplate for the i/o can be semi-easily removed by bending and snapping it off. Keep in mind it is permanent if you don't need it at all. My motherboard came with it's proper plate and fits with no issue.

I think it should work with standard atx as well, but when it comes to itx and other factors, I do not know. I am doubting it.

How many sata power connectors does the psu have?

2....I believe, but for a mid tower I stuck 2 120mm fans in it along with a 80mm fan in the front, (Installing the front fan is kind of a pain) it's a solid case for the money.

Does the power supply have a connector for the motherboard AND a gpu?

The power supply that comes with with case is very basic and does not have gpu connectors/6 pin psi express.

Do you have any idea how much 6mm is?  For those of you it's around 1/4 inch! You probably meant 0.6mm.

It's actually 0.6mm. It's a typo. 0.6mm is very thing sheet metal for a computer case.
