Question 1

How many external 5.25" drive bays does this thing have. Looks like 10 to me, unless I'm missing something. I went o the Zalman site and it also says 6, but????

It is actually 9 or 10 if I remember correctly. They mix them up into internal and external which is there way of saying they don't have drive cages for all of them. So if you want them all external you need more drive cages. I actually use this case with Icy Docks and rotate the drives vertical instead of horizontal and at that point you have space for a lot more drives. With the Icy Dock conversion I currently have 15 drives in it not counting the system drive. Cooling is awesome on this case.

Yes, I did get my rebate but I believe from what I can recall Zalman has folded since I got mine. You might check out TomsHardware site dated dec. 11, 2015.

Question 3

The specs on this state that it is compatible with micro atx/atx boards.

can this case also fit a micro itx board?  i'm interested in putting in this motherboard (ASRock AD2550R/U3S3) along with some 5 to 3 drive cages to make a relatively cheap nas system.

This case is an awesome case, one of the best for the price. I had no problems installing a Supermicro Server MB in it. I’m building a huge video server with it. I'm sure there wouldn't be a problem with any other size, they provide all the hardware that is needed. I have communicated with Zalman since I purchased mine and have found they are very helpful with anything that you need help with. Love it and will be buying Zalman products in the future. I might also add that their fans are of top quality and very quiet too.

Question 4

Will the 5.25 inch bays work with an Icy Dock 3 to 5 SATA backplate?  It's difficult to tell from the pictures if the rails are removable or not.

That's exactly what I did. The trick is that you have to bend the tabs down in the case, then the Icy Dock will slide right in. These are the tabs (rails) that would normally support a 5.25" drive.  So they are not removable, but they can be bent.

Question 5

I am selling my current computer, but keeping a few parts. I have a EVGA SuperNova 850w. Would this case fit such a large power supply?

I'm not familiar with that power supply, but the case is very roomy.  An ATX motherboard lines up parallel to the power supply and there is ample space behind the power supply.  So as long as the power supply is deep, but not wide you will be fine (deep being the direction along the axis with the PS fan.

You would have to give the the dimensions of the motherboard you are intending to install. I installed a standard size motherboard with room to spare.
