why the mesh side panel version is identified as medium tower and the glass side panel version is identified as full tower? Is this just a typo?

If both are the North XL, the dimensions are the same. There is a Fractal North. It's not the XL and it is a smaller case.

This case doesn't seem compatible with the MSI X870E carbon wifi motherboard, the front panel cables doesn't all have connections. Any help?

There are USB B and C header and audio connectors on the fractal. Maybe the Carbon has more port headers but they are still compatible.
