This will work. The technical specification says it supports 3000 series processors. Also, the maker of the motherboard, ASUS in this case, will have a tool on their website you can use to confirm. When in doubt, always go to the manufacturer. There is a modular set of brackets included you can put on to accommodate different heatsinks.

How big does the case have to be?

It's a standard ATX board so it should fit any ATX case.

No and windows 10 is practically free.

Will I need to update the bios for a 5600x?

since this is the second version, you shouldn't need to as it says on the box it comes "ryzen 5000 ready".
