I purchased two of these mobos, which support three M.2 slots. Looks like two (normal?) long slots and a short slot near the battery. The short one is described differently in the literature. Are there advantages of one vs the other? Which provides the best performance? How do I Identify/find/purchase that short style M.2 device?

The ASUS PRIME B660-PLUS D4 motherboard has three M.2 slots with different configurations. The M.2_1 slot supports PCIe 4.0 x4 mode and is compatible with Intel 12th Gen processors. The M.2_2 slot, managed by the Intel B660 Chipset, also supports PCIe 4.0 x4 mode and accommodates longer M.2 devices (up to 22110). The M.2_3 slot supports PCIe 4.0 x2 mode and generally accepts standard lengths (up to 2280). For the best performance, use the M.2_1 or M.2_2 slots, as they both offer PCIe 4.0 x4 speeds. The shorter slot (M.2_3) has a lower performance (PCIe 4.0 x2). For purchasing, look for M.2 devices with the sizes 2242, 2260, or 2280 for the shortest slot (M.2_3).

The spec sheet states it accepts lga 1200 mounting bracket, is this accurate or is 1700 hardware required?
