I have an H66 I5 2500k with 1155 socket. I see that this is designed for H77 chipset but then it also states that it is compatible with any 1-3rd generation of intel core cpus with 1155 socket. That being said it sounds like it should be compatible with my H66 I5. Can anyone confirm this?

The H77 refers to the chipset on the motherboard itself. Also your i5-2500k is a second gen processor not a third gen. It will work but you'll not have all the features that an ivy bridge based CPU will give. The biggest, iirc, memory clock speeds and PCIe 3.0
