Does it support 1600 Mhz memory?

I have a system up and running with http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231568 I believe this is 1600MHz, I had to adjust a BIOS setting to get full speed (XMP profile). I also updated the BIOS on this board.

What Cpu would u recommend for gaming for this?

No games should outrun this board with  any processor that fits. I prefer to spend the money up front with the best I can afford (i7 class) and maximize the life of the system. In gaming though the make/break performance and experience may have as much to do with the graphics adapter.  But spend that money only after you try the included on-board graphics with your specific games.

Question 3

How much memory will it take and how many slots. Intel Boxdz87klt75k?

Intel has a very informative and helpful website for this and other motherboards, please go there and get the specification for the board.  I recall that there are two slots.  As an FYI used CMP16GX3M4X1866C9 as required to get to about 16GB; also I found a note in the Intel application note that said "do not use low profile DIMMs.

Question 4

Is it normal for the fans to go at full speed before OS start on this motherboard?

Mine does not do that. That includes the 3 fans I have in the case. The only time I notice the fan noise is when I am rendering video. I would check the settings in the BIOS.

Hi Darryl...

As of yet I haven't built a system with the BOXDZ87KLT75K and is still currently sealed in it's packaging.  I haven't bought a power supply for the board but are using a Corsair TX850 with 2 high end cards in SLI which works great.  As for the power supply you are interested in and is "Haswell Ready" with the lower power state I'm not familiar with but one thing I have found out with the high watt Corsair power supplies is that they eventually start making a rather loud clicking noise.  My current TX850 is now making this noise after 6 months and it is rather loud at times.  But with the noise it still keeps the steady stream of current to all devices but it can be annoying.  If you will do some internet searching you will find that there are a lot of other people with the Corsair power supplies that are having the same issues.  Sorry I couldn't be of more help to your question.

This motherboard is for a PC desktop, not a MacBook Air. Since each Mac logicboard is custom to that model, you'll have to get the MacBook repaired by Apple or an Apple repair shop.

Most of the time, notebooks (both Macs and PCs) do not have commercially available logicboards. However, if you're lucky, iFixit might sell the logicboard you're looking for. (But really, repairing it yourself is more trouble than it's worth even for very technical people. You should just get it professionally repaired.)

The power supply I purchased when getting this mainboard was the Rosewill Capstone 750W power supply (I actually got two since I built two separate PCs with this mainboard).  It appears I can't post the item number in this reply, but it and a newer version appears on their website.  Good luck!

Are people consistently getting the G74721-305 with C2 stepping shipped to them?  Instead of the older 304 model.

Intel issued a product change notice for the older -304 to change
to C2 stepping -305. From what I remember the old C1s were still
being shipped by retailers well after this change notice in July 2013.  My solution to the USB 3.0 problems in certain sleep modes
was to never use them. I never followed up on whether Intel
did come out with the change to C2 stepping.

Is newegg now shipping the updated C2 stepping board? G74721-305?

The one Newegg shipped to me on Jan 27 does have the -305 number on a sticker next to the CPU socket...

USB 3 is working very satisfactorily - I installed Win8.1 from a USB 3 stick to the mSATA SSD and it was scarily fast...  typing in my licence key took almost as long as the rest of the install put together :). After installing Office and most of the heavyweights in Creative Cloud I imaged the SSD to a USB3 stick in about 10 minutes!!

Seems very stable now two weeks in...  4770K Haswell, 2x8Gb GSkill Ripjaws X series 9 (had to change BIOS to 1600) and a 120Gb 525 series mSATA SSD

If the issue is the No Boot Device  problem, apparently the problem is fixed with a BIOS update. (google search of G74721-304)
