Died in 2 years! No more GIGABYTE for me 11/17/2011 2:07:36 PM

Pros: Looks nice, huge heatsinks.

Cons: Gigabyte support is a joke. Motherboard died in just two years of use but that's not the bad part. I sent board for RMA they send it back to me dead. I called to find out what was going on. They said that they just pushed reset BIOS and send it back to a customer. Resetting BIOS can be done at the user level and I had waited two weeks for GIGABYTE "pro" tech support to push reset button and send it back to me? I asked to speak to someone in charge. They said their manger will call me back- never happened. Call back again. Left them voicemail. No call back! Now I'm sending board through the second time. Terrible!

Overall Review: I used to love GIGABYTE till I run into their terrible customer service. My advice is go with someone else.

Pros: Plug play with almost any OS, great for hackintosh builds.

Cons: None that I can think, worked out of the box and hasn't stopped since.

Great MB 3/13/2010 3:54:13 PM

Pros: Lots of features
Great OC capabilities
Lots of USB ports
Just about everything about this board I like

Cons: The only thing that was kind of a pain was the placement of the front audio port, its tucked way to the back of the board but my case cable was long enough

Smart Boost works great 2/25/2010 9:32:52 PM

Pros: This is a follow up of my review below. The Smart Boost option OCing software works great. This is the first mobo I ever had that would run full speed with the mobo software program. I can run Twin Turbo and OC my i5 750 with a stock speed of 2660 MHz to 3360 MHz with one touch using Twin Turbo. I am also using GSkill 2x2gig Ripjaw memory and Corsair hydro H50 cooler. Next will be manual OCing and I will try to report on that as time permits.

Cons: None, other than below.

Overall Review: Hoping to hit 4 GHz by manual OCing.

Great MoBo 2/24/2010 9:38:02 AM

Pros: Great setup.
Great layout.
Raid install through bios not a problem.
Many OCing features in the bios.
Software overclock program actually works
Windows 7 64bit installed without any issues
Everything I have asked for so far works and works well. I have no regrets at all with this board and would buy another.

I could repeat the specs as a plus but you can read those for yourself.

Cons: Some of Smart 6 options do not work "yet". Thats not nearly bad enough to deduct an egg.
Smart boot and Smart boost works fine.

Other than this there are no cons to this board.

Overall Review: This is my second Gigabyte board, first being a P45-UD3R. I liked the P45 board so much I decided to stick with Gigabyte and buy this board and its even better than the P45.

With Smart boot my start up time from a cold start to desktop is 46 seconds.

Smart boost so far will work with Turbo mode without any issues. Have not tried twin Turbo or manual overclocking at this time but plan to later.

System:
Coolermaster HAF932

2 x WD 640GB Blue HD in Raid 0
2 x Rosewell 120mm 2 Ball Bearing, Blue LED case fans

NEVER buy a Gigabyte Motherboard 2/21/2010 1:06:34 AM

Pros: Swell mobo if it works as promised (mine didn't).

Cons: NO coherent "support" or even any ATTEMPT to provide support. Defective from day one with massive Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit corruption.

Overall Review: Sure, you may get lucky & not have any issues. Most conservative OC from day one produced systemic corruption of OS (Win 7 Ult, 64-bit)--& after 3 "clean" installs & 3 "upgrade" installs, it's still a nightmare (no OC). "Support" doesn't even pretend to read the requests (also "lucky" no. 3), or address the explicitly stated issues & request for help.
In my case, garbage product with only the suggestion to try a RMA--but actually look for a solution? Barking up the wrong tree if you buy a Gigabyte product.

Excellent Motherboard! 2/3/2010 10:29:20 PM

Pros: TONS of extra features (10 sata ports!?!)

Great for SLI / Crossfire [2 cards]
(8x/8x is plenty of bandwidth)

I have used Gigabyte motherboards for years and every single one is a pleasure to overclock with!

Cons: When you use the bottom x4 slot, other features on the board become disabled. I believe you can choose to run the bottom slot at x1 and keep the features enabled but don't quote me on this (I know you can pick between x1 and x4 in the bios)

Overall Review: If you want to use 3 Video cards on a p55 platform, the only way is by using a motherboard with an nf200 PCI-E Multiplexer chip onboard. There are several motherboards that have this chip, however there are multiple ways of hooking the chip up and splitting up the lanes. Tom's hardware has a great review on this NF200 add-in chip that actually has benchmarks. Check it out if interested in 3-way SLI or Crossfire.

There was an issue with the 5850 / windows7-64 / possibly this motherboard (search google for "5850 windows 7 large cursor") but after updating to the latest bios (f3 -> f7b) this issue has been resolved.

Also the latest f7b bios is supposed to help memory overclocking/stability even more.

Not a fully satisfaction. 1/25/2010 7:27:23 PM

Pros: This Motherboard is great, but requires unique touch and delicate work. Overclocking should be easy; I haven’t tried oc more than 4x2.8 just yet, due to my stock heat shrink. Currently waiting for decent 1156 sockets heat shrink to be released before I really put this board to the test. I wouldn’t recommend doing it on stock heat shrink though. Overall: I give it five stars on the one that works. Overclocking is five stars as well.

Cons: My first board that I got from gigabyte was horrible experience. I didn’t even test it when it arrived at my door steps. It was my mistake in being so excited and having so much confidence in gigabyte motherboards. I didn’t even bother with testing procedure before installation. Anyway I installed it in my Antec Nine-Hundred case (great fit by the way). Powered it up…My pc kept rebooting over and over again? Every part had to be retested separately to figure out were the problem were coming from. After the entire testing procedures it has come to conclusion that it’s a motherboard failure. So I send it back for a replacement got a new one in about a week. Newegg was awesome though, very easy to work with and reimbursed me for the shipping fees as well. Anyway my second motherboard worked, but not without problems. Everything seemed fine at the moment, but after W7-64 bit installation audio would NOT work. Note: I had audio issues at first on W7-64 bit & minor USB problems.

Overall Review: Expensive board for having so many issues & bugs. I strongly suggest updating all the drives. They got the proper drivers updates for almost all the operating systems. After I went to gigabyte web link downloaded all the drives including audio drive for my operation system and the bug went away. At the moment everything seems to be running fine and flawless.
