Pros: - The parts that still work are still working acceptably.

Cons: - 2 RAM slots were DOA
- 2 other slots seem to be going out on me now

Overall Review: Purchased Early 2013.
RAM slots seem to be dying out. Tried different RAM sticks same issue will not recognize RAM. Move it to other slots and it works. However now those slots seem to be having issues. Running out of slots that work.

Gigabyte Rules

Pros: Purchased this to replace an Asus board that had to be sent back to manufacturer due to memory slots not working. Everything works great on this board. Love the bios update. Works with Win 10.

Cons: Should have gotten this board first.

Overall Review: All the Gigabyte boards I have purchased have been flawless. No more Asus for me.

had this board for over 2 years now

Pros: Solid board. I have an i7-4930K, 16GB of ram (4x4GB 2 slots on each side) and a GeFore 960w/4GB and 500GB Samsung EVO SSD.

Cons: No longer stocked, or I would get more of these to build gaming rigs for friends. :)

Overall Review: Gigabyte has never done me wrong, and my next mobo will be a Gigabyte, but hardware is hardware. Sometimes you get a lemon, sometimes you get a peach (I've gotten some of both). Research and reviews can help with an educated decision before you throw down a lot of money on some gear.

Oh and Newegg is awesome. ;)

Good value for the money

Pros: Bought this for the features and as a replacement for an AMD board that fried way back in 2013. Been running well since. Features are good, performance is good, and reliability is mostly good. Also chose this board for the number of memory slots

Cons: Never worked getting Windows out of Sleep mode-a common issue for this board. Boot up was fine for the longest time and then suddenly started having issues with USB and network connectivity, requiring one or two reboots. After flashing the ROM to the newest version, no such problems. Still doesn't come out of sleep.

Overall Review: Overall reliable, and at the time, good value for the money for my i7 chip.

Unreliable

Pros: Lots of slots and SATA connections ... integrated RAID.

Cons: Random crash/reboots consistently over a period of almost 2 years. However, the purpose of the computer could tolerate it so I just kept it instead of bothering with a replace.

Overall Review: Am writing this review because I have to replace it due to a lightening strike. I was looking at my purchase history to see if this motherboard is still available. Of course, I thought it prudent to check the reviews. Given the other reviews indicating "familiar sounding" issues, I'm going to pass and go for something else despite satisfaction with other computers with GIGABYTE motherboards.

Failed in under a year

Pros: nice box, looks good

Cons: Not reliable

Overall Review: Ran nicely for about two months and then starter restarting. The BIOS reloaded itself and then the thing worked for a day or so, Now it just beeps repeatedly on booting.

It's probably out of warranty but we'll see.

Great Mobo for Price

Pros: Being that I used this motherboard for my first build and having owned this particular model since December 2012, I consider myself to be fairly knowledgeable about this motherboard.

Just by looking at GIGABYTE’s list of specifications, one can see every little feature that GIGABYTE prides itself on. The most noticeable of those being: Supports New Intel® Core™ i7 processor Extreme Edition, GIGABYTE All Digital Power with GIGABYTE 3D Power, GIGABYTE Ultra Durable™5 technology, PCI Express Gen 3.0 support, 4-way CrossFireX™ and 4-way SLI™ Support, 4 Channel Memory Architecture with 8 DIMM slots, and GIGABYTE On/Off Charge™ with 3X USB Power.

Actually getting to the motherboard itself, it feels very solid and the conservative color scheme of gray and black allows for it to blend in well with most case choices. Just from the aesthetics itself, I don’t think anybody would be ashamed to have a Plexiglas windows on their case. The board itself is made with twice the copper and a glass fiber Pre-Preg (the nonconductive middle layer) to protect it better from humidity for overclockers that need it. The glass fiber is crucial for overclockers operating in low temperatures, as when the temperature decreases dew can accumulate on the board and a fiber glass insulation helps to keep the water from causing any unwanted shorts. The increased copper allows for better current flow and increased performance. Another handy feature of the board as a whole are the mounting locations on the top side of the board. Small solder traces radiate around the mounting points in order to provide somewhat of a cushion for the screw so that it does not put too much pressure on the PCB and possibly damage it. In addition the solder traces also serve as electrical grounding points for the board and the case.

One eye catching feature that one might notice is that one of the USB 2.0 headers is red. For those that might not recognize what this unusual color scheme signifies, you’re in for a treat. This USB header supports any normal header connection, but it also has faster than average charging capabilities and will also continue to supply power when the computer is off.

Moving on to one of my favorite features of the motherboard: the DualBIOS. For anybody who has ever been interrupted in the middle of a BIOS (Basic Input Output System) update, you can rejoice in knowing that the main BIOS is corrupted, the main BIOS can be restored from the backup BIOS. I have personally had this experience and can say that DualBIOS is a lifesaver.

Cons: After all of my words of praise one would assume that this motherboard has no flaws. To say that it is perfect would be a lie. Some areas of complaint are due to price limitations while some are due to the designer.

My first irk would have to be the inclusion of the one PCI slot. While I understand that many believe in maintaining backwards compatibility through Legacy hardware, the fact that PCIe had been around for 8 years should have been enough to assume that most everybody would have upgraded or scrapped their old cards. And to add further insult to injury, they include the slot on one of their higher end models designed for “high-performance computing”. Realizing that PCB space is valuable, I believe that a better alternative would have been to replace the PCI slot with a PCIe x 1 slot instead. The height of this slot also limits some options for graphics cards in that some double-wide graphics cards may not have enough clearance to stand over this slot.

While having a 4 channel memory architecture is great, GIGABYTE provides little information on where to specifically install the RAM modules. They include instructions on which RAM channel are wired together, but neglect to consider the fact that most users won’t even have four DIMMs (Dual Inline Memory Module) and will most likely have one DIMM per channel at most. Only after countless hours scavenging through forums did I find the out order to install the modules as more are added.

Another complaint I have is directed towards the BIOS engineer. Not even the CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor) utilities, but the BIOS itself. After bricking my motherboard over the summer, I discovered that the order in which devices are attached to the SATA ports truly mattered. Apparently the optical disk drive needed to be at SATA_0, the primary Hard Drive on SATA_2, secondary drive on SATA_3, and any other devices had to start from the Marvell ports at SATA_7 and going downwards. Nowhere in any documentation was this matter even hinted about.

Overall Review: If you’re looking for an above average motherboard, jammed pack full of features, and for only $243, this is an excellent pick.
