what socket does this board accept?

Its 2nd and 3rd gen intel processors. The new Haswell processors are socket 1150, thus cannot be used on this board which is 1155

Has anyone used an 8 GB memory module at 1600 speed?  I have a Corsair vengeance stick in the 2nd channel since my cpu cooler is too large to allow it in the 1st :(.  I have been receiving many BSODs unless running in safe mode.  I just found tonight that if I set the memory setting in BIOS to run the memory at 1333 speed, my system runs smooth (strange seeing the board supports 1600).

I think on the i3, i5, and the i7 CPU motherboards the CPU has the memory controller built in so it might be more of a mater as to what the CPU can handle and at what speed as it was designed for dual channel operation at that speed with the xmp profile activated in the bios for timing along with making sure the proper memory voltage is set

Is this motherboard powered typical interal fan-cooled power supply or can it be powered with a 5.5mm/wall wart/power brick?

This motherboard uses a mini-ITX desktop PSU with 1x24-pin ATX main power connector and 1x4-pin ATX 12V power connector.  As I bought the SILVERSTONE SST-SG08B Mini-ITX Desktop Case with 600W PSU, you can see some of the specs of the PSU by looking at the case here at Newegg.  The PSU that came with that case has an internal fan that vents out the bottom of the case.

In addition to TEAMING, is FAILOVER possible or is FAILOVER only available for SERVERS? I have TWO internet providers.

Bear in mind that there are two different branded NICs on this mobo. One is Intel-branded, one is Qualcomm-branded. So either of their software teaming solutions for OS's that don't natively support it, will *not* work  (if Qualcomm even has one?)

Now if you're installing any flavor Server 2012 R2, the OS itself has native NIC teaming that cares not what brand of network card you throw at it. So yes, assuming you're on a 2012 R2 product or a 2016 Preview, a NIC team made of the 2 NICs on this motherboard will work fine and can provide failover.

All that said, a failover ISP should be handled at the network level, not on the machine itself. Get yourself a dual WAN router from Cisco, Peplink, Ubiquiti, et al.

Not sure about ac, but it definitely supports b/g/n. I'm using an n-only wireless router and it connects just fine with good n speeds.

Hi there,
I am building a home theater PC on a budget. Windows Ultimate 7 OS, and it is freaky fast already. I have downloaded all drivers. It works perfect, except video is lagging with very choppy frame rate. I think I can put in 1 x PCIE 3.0 x 16 gpu, but I am not sure. I know that my MoBo can take either 2 ATI or AMD. I read on a forumboard that if I used a PCIE 3.0 x 16, it would depend on the processor, which is an Intel LGA 1155 Ivybridge. Here is my build

I have build Home theater computer and do not understand why you're fighting video card ?? It not needed at all. You must use HDMI or DISPLAY connector on back of computer ( on Mother Board directly ) and you TV better to have one ready to be connected, so remove Video Card and be at peace !!! and also use Windows 7 Pro and download if you have not all recommended drives for Windows Media Center and better install  TV Tuner Card instead of Video Card.  Keep in mind your Mother Board has graphic function with respective Intell supporting processor and it looks like to me ( I have same MB ) you already have correct MB and what is the Intel processor you had installed ???
