Question 1

I have read a lot of reviews saying that the dim slots 3 and 4 are defective, is this always the case?

I have bought this board and have not tested all the memory slots. My manual states if your only using 2 sticks of memory, use slots 2 and 4 first.  I snapped them in securely and GENTLY pressed 2 or 3 times on each side of the ram GENTLY as to not damage anything. They are in slots 2 and 4. When I was confident they were seated I powered up the board and not have any signs of issues since the start. Running perfect for 3 days so far.

Question 2

Since this has video ports, I'm assuming there's an integrated video chip?

Unfortunately, no. You will need integrated graphics on the processor itself, or a discrete video card, which most 1150 socket cpus have anyways.

It is still very good to have. I relied on it for a short while and had integrated graphics off my processor during that time. Intel HD 4600 integrated graphics works fantastic when I had no video card.

Extra info: If you plan on using the available HDMI on the mobo because your video card has no more and you have no other types of display cables you can not have both screens share the same image. They can only extend to be a multimonitor set up. In my situation I have a 50 inch tv and I wanted to put a game on it without changing it to my main monitor every time I wanted to take it off my monitor. I have to set the tv as my main screen for that and my monitor as the secondary screen. You can have both screens stream the same image only if it's from the video card itself. If you just want a multimonitor set up with each showing its own image you can do that, but im not sure if it uses your integrated graphics from whichever screen is plugged into the mobo.

I wonder if its going to be ok with 4790k. since i couldn't find it on the compability chart on the msi website. (lol i have to put question mark "?")

I have installed an Intel Core i7 4770k in my Krait Edition Z97 and it works perfectly. You shouldn't have any issue with a 4790k as they are the same size and use the same socket.

Question 4

is SATA 6Gb/s the same as SATA III?  Will a SATA III SDD be compatible with this MoBo?

SATA III and SATA 6Gb/s are the same, the former is the generation and the latter is the speed.  And SSD's are compatible with MSI's Z97S SLI Krait Edition.

I recommend Samsung's EVO or PRO line of SSD.  SATA III or M.2.

what does it mean when it saus 6 GB does that mean I should only get 6 GB memory for the computer total?

I believe you are talking about the 6Gb/s disk transfer speed using SATA drives, and that is not related to RAM. I'd suggest more than 6Gb of RAM--there are a lot of options and configurations but for the build peaturing this board I used: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104471 16Gb RAM (2x8Gb) and it's had no problems since it's build in December 2014. You will be much more pleased with the performance of your computer if you give it plenty of RAM.

Question 6

So, i started to try and put up my second monitor after using one monitor for awhile and i plugged in my second one to my motherboard and the monitor is black. What do i have to do in order to let my monitor work with my motherboard?

Do you have a graphics card in your computer? If you have a graphics card then your onboard graphics would be disabled and you would want to plug the second monitor into your graphics card. If you dont have a graphics card and you're using onboard graphics for the monitor then I believe you would have to either:

a) go to the bios, go to settings and enable your ports that way
b) go to the device manager on your computer and ensure that all of your ports are enabled as they might not be enabled by default.

Can I game with this motherboard?

Yes. This motherboard is suited very well for the mid to mid-high range gaming price point. You can use the 20th Anniversary Ed. Pentium G3258, i5 4690k, and i7 4790k. The motherboard doesn't exactly have the absolute best power delivery to achieve a high overclock, it can however achieve a very modest overclock, especially on the Pentium G3258. Another nice thing about this motherboard is you get 2 PCIE Gen3 x16 slots, when in SLI or Crossfire x8, x8. Pair this motherboard up with a Fractal Define R4/R5 or NZXT Noctis 450, you can make some awesome color coordinated builds.

does this board have wifi?  or do i need to buy that separately?

No, wifi is not built in.  You will need a USB or PCI express wifi adapter if wifi is needed.

Can you overclock on this motherboard?

Yes.  It has an automatic feature that does it for you, but it also allows manual adjustments.  I just used the auto feature and it took my 3.5ghz i5 4690k to 4.0ghz.  It is rock solid, and i am sure it would go further, but i didn't push it. Have fun.

I can see that this board does not have built-in wireless. Does it have bluetooth? It doesn't seem to mention it anywhere. Thanks in advance
