Pros: Read other reviews about features. Lots of good overclocking options. Asus' customer service is excellent.

Cons: Not compatible with Core 2 Duo x6800 Extreme edition out of the box. Newegg shipped me a board with bios version 0502 which is not compatible with the x6800. Can't use EZ bios flasher feature because computer cannot post. If using this processor, you will not be able to update the bios unless you have another 775 socket CPU that you can put in the board first. You have to put in another 775 processor, update the bios, and then swap out CPUs to use your x6800. This isn't much of a problem though because Asus will ship you a new bios chip for free. Just call them up when you order this board and request bios version 0902 if using the x6800 CPU.

Overall Review: Called up Asus to complain and they immediately fixed my problem by sending me a new bios chip free of charge (no shipping charge either!). All you have to do is pop it out and put the new bios chip in and you can use an x6800 CPU. If you order this motherboard, call up Asus and request the chip. I was shocked by how helpful they were, but maybe I am just jaded after having to deal with Dell's customer service and their XPS 700 vaporware.

Pros: I've only had this board a week, but from the design/layout of it and its performance I love it. It has everything I wanted. It has a little remote that performs basic task. It has built in RAID setup, you just plug in your 2 SATA HD's into 2 special ports and you instantly have RAID 1 (RAID 0 takes a jumper change and BIOS option change, but thats pretty easy too). It has built in WiFi that can be used in 3 modes. I dont have WiFi at home, so I use this to send out a WiFi signal to my PocketPC. It has a MP3-in port to send music from your Ipod, PPC, or whatever to your PC speakers even when your PC is turned off. It runs the new Intel Quad chips and has plenty of external ports. It has 5 Fan power ports and these little adapter for plugging in all those tiny switch cables (HD LED, Power, Reset, etc) you just plug these into the adapter then plug the adapter onto the board. It has 2 PATA connectors for those of you who still have 2 IDE HDs and 2 IDE DVDROMS that you still want to use.

Cons: The only con I had initially was the temp. The MB was running at 54C. I was able to drop that dramatically just by moving my side case intake fan. It was at the very top, so I moved it to the bottom to blow air underneath my 2900PRO and now my temp is running at 34C idle (Intel Q6600 Quad running at 18C idle). The 2900PRO is HUGE and made a coffin of hot air. Once I get my 2 new fans Im sure that will drop below 30C. I will have 2 fans on the side (top+bottom) sucking in air, 1 fan on top and back blowing our air. Then graphics card and PSU blowing out air. Then CPU Fan and MB Heatsink fan. Wow I just realized thats 8 fans. :P Make sure to install your CPU heatsink bracket (for Zalman users) before installing your MB. You have to install a bracket onto the back of the MB, which I realized after hooking up EVERYTHING else.

Overall Review: People that complain that you cant use one of the PATA connections should read the manual. The PATA connection at the bottom in black specifically states that its not for ATAPI devices, so use this to hook up your IDE HD's, which is perfect cuz HD's are at the bottom of case. The connection on the side is used for your DVDROMS. Whats confusing is the color of the cables and ports. This MB came with 2302 BIOS so it was pretty up to date. I ordered 8 items from Newegg and had no DOA's. (This MB, Intel Q6600 Quad CPU, 2 WD 320 GB SATA HD's, 2X2GB of Corsair XMS, Zalman 9500 Fan, Sapphire 2900 PRO, and a Hec 750W PSU) Thank you Newegg, gutting my old case and rebuilding everything from scratch took like 10 hours, but it is definately worth it. Since I still have room to type, my old 2.53 Ghz P4 w/ 1 GB of RAM, and 256 MB GPU only got 17 fps in Half Life 2 stress test, my new config got over 175 fps, and thats without any tweaking/overclocking. Sweet!!!

Pros: Do not listen to people who complain about asus they do not know how to install. I have bought many asus boards from new egg - all p5w-dh's work great. Raid 10/0 for 5 months no problems. Vista rc-1 4 months no problems - vista drivers all devices work. Super fast

Cons: There is an issue with the new bios and unlocked multipliers but since i am using a e6300 no problems. If you think you might have problem go to asus forums not tech support. I am really try to think of any cons?. Asus gives you all the extras. The sound is great, i am running a dual boot xp pro and vista rc-1 - i guess cost is kind of high but its worth it. People who complain about asus tech support due have a true beef if you have real problem ask for lvl 3 tech and call during the day when wait times are short.

Overall Review: Sometimes when i read other peoples posts I just feel like I need to share the truth. The truth is if your conroe is overheating you have no clue how to install a chip - they run super cool on stock intel coolers. When you read about people who have multi-board failures - well i think they either work for other companies or they are kids who are not informed or they have no clue how to install. If you have an os problem set you memory latencies higher then stock and do not overclock. People who have boot and os problems need to manually set all parameters in the bios. I am running e6300 2.8ghz it never gets over 45c. The mobo runs at 55c or less even at 400fsb. I have bought many open boxed boards - i did have 1 problem with one asus open box board out of 2 dozen (a socket 478 mobo) i sent it back to asus and they sent me a new one. UPS smashed a computer I built, I sent the board to asus and they sent me a new one - what else can you ask! Asus and the "egg" rock!

Pros: smooth and flawless operation with a 6700, corsair epp 44412 ddr2 800 ram, and evga 7950gx2..got a sata2 raid0 workin easy...a VERY easy board to wire...bios worked with core 2 duo out of the box (8010 bios)

Cons: runs a bit hot,40-42c idle,45-46c peak.though this may be due to my sata power cables and HDs blocking airflow to the southbridge I have very nice airflow in te case..ambient temp is below 40c and cpu is peak at 27c with tower freezer 7 pro; get a warning at 45c but no performance drop, goin to try to move HDs and get better flow on southbridge

Overall Review: onboard sound is great, beats my old audigy2zs, no real need to get a stand alone soundcard. no problems with the 7950Gx2 card except in company of heroes, but that game has sli issues anyway, turning gpu cores to run sperate fixes the prob. all other games run perfect (graw, bf2, gtr2...) ez raid0 with sata2 is actually faster than my old raptor raid0, and easy to set up. if you run HDs in addition to raid, use the black sata slots

Pros: Best part of this board is features galore! ASUS seems to come out with bleeding edge technology faster than competitors - their boards seem to be the only ones that combine most if not all of the new technologies in one place. This board was the easiest to set up (my 4th ASUS board) - I'm not sure if it's because I'm conditioned, or because they improved the BIOS.

Cons: Like all of the top end ASUS boards, this one is for experts with patience. Chances are you will have to troubleshoot issues and do research to solve problems. I didn't even try to set this up as a RAID 0 for the boot disk, but on my other ASUS boards, that was quite a pain. Also, the ASUS software universally sucks - buggy and crashes constantly. Don't waste your time installing it. One disappointment was that the internal WiFi does not stay on when the computer is off or in hibernate - only stays on when it is in "sleep" (which means fans and the like are still on making noise). My comp's in my bedroom, so my plan of not needing a separate wifi router didn't work.

Overall Review: IMHO, most advanced board out there, with the most bleeding edge features. But as a result, only for people with experience troubleshooting boards and with patience. If you want something you can put together really fast with minimum fuss, this ain't your board.

Cons: I am an experienced system builder. The board works fine and is very stable. I have had a very hard time getting Advanced Host Controller Interface AHCI to work using a 250G Samsung (SP2504C) SATA 3.0Gb/s Drive. AHCI will allow the hard drive and Intel ICH7R chipset to do Native Command Queuing NCQ. Asus tech support is as bad as it can possibly be. They do not return phone calls nor do they have any knowledgeable people on hand. I have even had them disconnect my call while talking to them and I was not being rude to them. They will not hang up on you if you ask for their name at the beginning of the conversation. Their level 1 support will tell you that you have a level 3 question. They transfer you to a level 3 technical support department, but all you get is a voice mail to someone that does not return your call. I finally found the answer to my issue by doing a search on (Asus P5w dh deluxe AHCI) follow the first link to get the answer to the problem.

Overall Review: Asus technical support was not any help at all if you are a first time builder I would recommend that you use someone else for your MB. The biggest reason that I wanted this board was that it will provide an upgrade path to the new Intel processor Kentsfield.

Pros: This thing is so easy to overclock. I've never OCed in my life and this motherboard made the experience enjoyable. Slapped an E6400 on it, and took it to 3.2 GHz at 40 C using a simple utility included (all I had to do was select the number from a pulldown menu and restart). The same utility has all the temperatures you need to monitor right there infront of you.

Cons: This might be my fault, but I'll bring it up because at the best I'm laying the responsibility at bad instructions with respect to this. There's two IDE ports on the board, black is listed as hard drives, blue as CDROMs in the instructions (both supposedly on master). Any CDROM tried generated an I/O error until I made it a slave, and hooked it up to the harddrive IDE cable and left the CDROM slot empty.

Overall Review: There's a couple plastic caps on the Northbridge/Southbridge heatsinks that people on the net recommend removing for cooling. They don't just slip off though, and I'm afraid if I apply any more pressure I'll rip the heatsinks off. Can someone detail this process? Are their clips or something on the back side?

Pros: STABLE! Future proof(Asus has continued updates for this board, and it now supports Wolfdales and Yorfields), TONS of BIOS options, runs cool, plenty of USB connectors, a boatload of features, CROSSFIRE!

Cons: Not great for clocking Quads. If that's what you're looking for, do yourself a favor a get a 680i or P35 board.

Overall Review: This board runs circles around every board I've ever used except for when clocking quad core processors. If you're building a C2D rig, this board is incredible, but C2Q's, not so much. Other than that peeve of mine, there's nothing wrong with this board, it's an absolute great performer, accepts a wide range of CPU's, memory, and VGA cards, and has a bunch of storage options. One great thing about this board when it comes to overclocking is that if it's unstable, it just won't boot. Period. It'll POST, but it'll tell you "Overclocking or overvolting FAILED. Press F1 to enter SETUP." I love that. <3
