Pros: This is the greatest DDR2 motherboard out there. I've owned it for 2 months and I am still in love with it. The BIOS settings allow you to change anything, even tRD for memory (which can give you great bandwidth gains.) It overclocks wonderfully (thanks in part to the Intel X48 chipset.) CPU and RAM booted right up first boot, no problems. It's amazingly stable; in fact it's the most stable motherboard I've ever owned. I love this motherboard. Works with my ATI 4870 wonderfully.

Cons: NB gets extremely hot. I'm overclocked to 450 FSB, and with the minimum NB voltage to keep my rig stable (1.54v) it idles around 60C. This is not uncommon. That's really the only con I can think of.

Overall Review: If you're using a 45nm CPU, disable Loadline Calibration until you update to BIOS 0406 (it's not listed on their website, just google it.) This BIOS fixes LLC for 45nm CPUs; otherwise you will get crashes and possibly fry the CPU. NB gets hot as hell. Remove the heatsinks, remove the junk thermal pads and apply new compound (though rumor has it this voids your warranty. But you won't need the warranty because this motherboard is like a rock.) Attach the LCD poster BEFORE you put the motherboard into your computer. It's in a very hard-to-reach spot once it's in your case. I run a Q9450 quad core, 8 GB DDR2-1000, ATI HD 4870, WD Velociraptor. Everything works like a dream. I hope this review helped you. You won't be disappointed.

Pros: Great board. Excellent Overclocking capabilities. I always liked Asus MB, so I am not a new customer. There are lots of choices to overclock and to adjust all voltages, frequencies, power management etc. This MB recognize 4GB of RAM with Vista Ultimate 32-bit, I guess because the Vista SP1, even when there is only about 3.25GB available to be used in real life, but I was worried about Asus not recommending the 4GB configuration for 32-bit OS, if you're planning to get a Vista PC, do it, it will be faster than ever, of course I am using a Q9450 Intel CPU ( The best CPU you can get for the money ) Overall, this is the best motherboard for DDR2. Read the Cons too...

Cons: Motherboard software is bad, it works, but is useless. Avoid overclocking through windows with the ASUS AIsuite application. I didn't get the feeling of controling my PC using this software, so I went back and did everything through BIOS and it is awsome. The Rampage MB manual is not complete, not all the connections are represented, you will have to figure out how to install the front audio cables to the sound card, it will accept either AC97 or HD connections, is the same connector, but there are no instructions in the manual to do this. Asus used to give detailed diagrams of their MB's, not anymore. Some pictures in the manual fail to show the correct procedure to install componenents, I used the instructions from a Gigabyte MB manual. Try to get as much info from the internet, you will find the manual very poor, still the board is great.

Overall Review: NB and SB are hotter than other boards. You will have to use Front fans to keep them in the 40 C. Some noise, but with quiet fan operation you will soon find the NB and SB over 55 C. You don't want that with any MB. Many people said that is OK to run this board at such high temps. I don't like higher temps as performance will suffer with overheat components. Water cooling is recommended if you are going to use extreme OC. Beside that the board is a high performance MB at a very reasonable price, and hopefully will last for several years even ocerclocking it.

Pros: This is a very sturdy and impressive-looking motherboard, that is also extremely stable. I have no real complaints about the hardware; I had zero issues with it for the entire time it was working. This will probably be the swansong of the LGA775 era, since processor architecture has finally moved on.

Cons: The POST LCD might not be as useful as one would hope. When there is a motherboard problem, the LCD will only display CPU_INIT (which is wrong, and misleading, and defeats the purpose of an LCD POSTer). The motherboard also gave the same error when a fan tried to draw too much voltage from a non-CPU power slot. Which is totally counter-intuitive. But the real problem is with the manufacturer: A failed BIOS update forced me to RMA this motherboard, which I completely understand. But when I received it back 15 days later, the motherboard made a small high pitched squealing noise when plugged into any power supply (and did nothing else.) The LCD just said CPU_INIT, regardless of what components were physically present. ASUS says I must RMA again. At this rate I'm going to be without a motherboard for an entire month, which is extremely disappointing and frustrating.

Overall Review: I paid a premium for this product, but thus far quality control/service seems minimal at best. The RMA Status page hasn't worked right (at all) since I received the first RMA number ~20 days ago, drivers pages had DL speeds of ~10KB/s or less, and I'm going to be without a motherboard for probably a month now. I understand that the RMA process can take time, but forcing a customer to wait an additional 2-3 weeks due to manufacturer error/faulty product is wholly unreasonable and greatly decreases my confidence in them. This has been a great physical product, but the POST LCD has proven largely useless and the RMA process has failed me outright. If you are lucky enough to not encounter any RMA-necessitating issues with this product, you'll be the happy owner of one of the best motherboards out there. But if not, you may be stuck in purgatory for a long time while YOU do quality control on THEIR hardware and website.

Pros: This board worked just fine with an Q8200 and the Q9550 I have in it now. It worked fine with three different manufacturers of 2 gig memory - Have 8 gigs of Crucial 1066 in now with the Q9550. Built the computer to do AVCHD video - so far so good The customer service is the real story here - Ill try to fit it in here and "other thoughts" Using WinXp 64 bit - my optical drives would not "read" AVCHD files - I updated firmware and thought.....maybe I should flash the bios on the Rampage. Now we all know the answer to that! So I flashed 902 and then the system would not restart - It would cold boot, but not restart. I called Asus Tech support expecting to be on hold for a half an hour and on MY dime. The techs answered the call in 3 rings or less and these fellows know their stuff. I called 6 of them - there are 16 in all. They were patient with me and I flashed the board back to 407. These guys and gals must sleep with computers. I even got them to send me a bios chip MTF

Cons: Only operator error. Remember if you flash your bios, you do it at your own risk. I knew that and did it anyway. If a bios doesn't like the MB, memory and CPU - it just might not work the way you would like it to - Fortunately, Asus will not let you down. Treat them with respect and they will impart their vast knowledge on you.

Overall Review: in case the flash didn't work. Parri in the RMA department was equally as cordial and helpful. Due to their customer service I would never consider buying any other board at any price. All service departments could sure take a lesson from Asus. Oh yea, the board is working just fine. If you have a problem don't hesitate to call Asus MB tech support at 812-282-2787.

Pros: Rock solid, great layout, overclockers dream!! TONS of BIOS options, extremely easy overclocking for both beginners and advanced users. CPU level up makes overclocking a breeze. For example, a Q9550 user can choose to lever up their CPU to Q9650 or 9750 without any worries. This board will adjust FSB and voltage accordingly. Includes a "crazy" Level up option, which made my q9550 run at 3.5 at 412Mhz bus, which also OC'd my GSkill DD2 800 up to 1050 with 5-5-5-15 2T timings @ 2.15V Everything was done on Auto, just by using CPU level up. CMOS reset button is right on the back panel, resets only the option that you changed last. Onboard power and reset buttons are a nice touch, let you test out your system without hooking up the front panel buttons. Aftermarket heatsink and fan fit without a problem. Plenty of USB ports, LCD poster displays time and information/ alerts.

Cons: Pricey, compared to some other X48 boards, but well worth it. Not really a con, but if used with Wolfdale or Yorksfield CPU's, a BIOS upgrade to 410 is a MUST before overclocking. Otherwise it will not be stable.

Overall Review: Northbridge runs kinda hot, so does Southbridge, but that seems to be the case with all the new board. Was able to run my q9550 at 3.67 with 432 bus (1728 FSB), seems to be the limit for this board, afterwards it started clocking backwards.. I think that's more then enough for a quad-core though... Overall awesome board, 5 Eggs!!! if you got the money, buy it!! You won't regret it!!

Pros: This is a great motherboard with lots of features. Get your CPU chip anywhere near the socket and it will almost load and lock itself! Get a case with a window on the side. The visuals of the board are great! I noted lots of install flexibility although my simple life did not invoke the possibilities.

Cons: The onboard audio is useless even though it is a major selling point (cost) for this motherboard. The problem is apparently the software. We see it over and over again. If there is a problem it is always the software. Surprise, surprise, surprise. I can't get the SoundMAX software to output through the motherboard's digital audio port. Uninstalled and reinstalled SoundMAX ad nauseam but it still doesn't work. SoundMAX is typical "included" software in that it doesn’t work and there are no support resources available. Also, the board is not compatible with a robust CPU fan. I had to bend the fan fins AND use force to get the fan nested. The altitude incursions from the motherboard are too close to the CPU mount. HELLO! Move your motherboard components away from the CPU mount!

Overall Review: I like this board; except for the audio. The board was easy to install. The motherboard setup was straight forward (for a motherboard). I wish I had bought a lesser board and purchased a separate sound card. I know what you're thinking. No, I will not reward this vendor with the purchase of an audio card to replace something I already bought. However, I still love Newegg for their prices, selection, and rapid delivery times. Also, I am amazed that the Newegg feedback feature throws a misspell flag for the word, "Newegg".

Pros: Rock stable! This board has been in service daily for several months now and has NEVER given me boot error or a BSOD. Update your Bios and keep the voltages and overclocks respectable and sit back and enjoy this well designed motherboard. Solid capacitors and copper cooling on all key components should really help in the long haul. There are more Bios tweaks than most people will know what to do with. Read the manual. ASUS got this one right!

Cons: ASUS Probe Temperature monitoring software by default will trip a high temp warning on the North bridge chipset (+46C). High temps on the North bridge (X48 chipset) are common. Simply adjust the threshold upward and the warning will stop. ALWAYS use extra cooling case fans when possible!

Overall Review: People who can't spell the word "board" (see review below) should never attempt building anything more complex than a paper airplane (with a manual of course). Shelling out $300.00 of your mom and dads hard earned money on a board does not make one an expert. Take most negative reviews here with a grain of salt. ASUS got this one right!

Pros: Feature rich, stable, cooling for non-CPU parts is superb, layout is great and for the tweaker the LCD Poster is a great little doodad.

Cons: Expensive ... general Asus website/support/download stinks as usual, they (Asus) should revamp their web site and add server capacity and extra BW.

Overall Review: Put in 8 gigs of Corsair dominator (two 4 gig kits of 2x2) DDR2-1067 CL5 ... booted right up, no problems. Outstanding tweaking options in the BIOS, running QX6850 at 3.6 no problems. Booted out the Striker 680i ... cruddy, worthless, pile of junk MB, not because of Asus but the nVidia chipset kept frying drives. Literally rendering them no better than paper weights. nVidia should be ashamed putting utter junk like that on the market, in 6 months 1/2 the USB ports died. Much happier with the x48.
