ASUS P5Q Premium LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: All I can say is wow! This board has everything AND the kitchen sink. I mainly bought it for Socket 775 and the number of PCIx16 slots available for use with RAID controllers. The gigabit controllers work well and are automatically detected. There are 2 built in SATA controllers each with their own firmware. I noticed no conflicts between these controllers and my Adaptec 3805 controller. Expansive BIOS with tons of options including lots of overclocking and voltage management features. The board even has it's own OS embedded (appears to be linux based) on it that allows you to surf the web use some basic online tools and read the contents of thumb drives for quick access to data.

Cons: My Raid controller would not work in a couple of the x16 PCI slots. System would not boot unless I used the lowest slot. Odd but may be fixed since the bios on the board was many rev's old.

Pros: This is a great board. Heat pipe keeps the NB @ 80f and 8400 runs at room temp (ambients 70f) so 21-22c at default vcore. Asus included alot of extra apps with this too. This has dual RAID controllers for people who want to raid their boot drive(s) and RAID their storage drives. I think the only other board I seen that had this was a X58 board. Esthetically the board is beautiful. No problems with running PC7200 (4x2Gb) True 16-phase power management. Great board, get it if you want a ROCK SOLID board.

Overall Review: I needed a different pci, pci-e layout otherwise my Asus P5K-E would been home to my 8400

Pros: Many awesome features, 4 LAN, 8 USB with room to spare based on the spec of your case. 10 total SATA. Expressgate, which is a really awesome 5sec boot to app feature that is terribly convenient.

Cons: Wake up last week and it's completely dead after 88 days. I now have a very expensive paperweight. I understand that computer parts can fail from time to time, but after only 3 months? I spent 45 minutes wading through their phone menu yesterday only to get bounced from department to department. Seriously frustrating.

Overall Review: I have always been a longtime fan of ASUS and really looked forward to taking advantage of the MANY features this board has to offer.

Pros: Very nice board. This board replaced my older ASUS board that blew up after 4 years of non stop use. ASUS has my vote again on this new board. If you are a POWER user then this is the board for you.

Cons: SATA ports could be in a better spot on the board but is not that big of a deal.

Overall Review: Be sure you have a power supply that has the 8pin connector or this board will not boot. Great board, GREAT price, A must buy for any true computer geek.

Pros: I have had no problems with setup or stability on this board. Tweaking voltage and FSB alone has taken my Q6600 to 3.66 GHz on air. Having different OC profiles is great. I've never lost any profiles or settings. I've used sound cards, different RAM modules, several different video cards and multiple hard drives without any issues ever.

Cons: Four of the SATA connectors (and there's no eSATA on the back) run off of the Silicon Image controller. While the RAID features there functioned properly, drives showed significantly slower read/write speeds than those on the main ICH10R controller. For example, I was getting 75MB/s versus 100MB/s with the same drives on the two different controllers. As usual for ASUS, included utility software is somewhat lame, and its use of the English language is inexcusably awful. (C'mon, you may be a Taiwanese company, but you sell a hell of a lot of products overseas. Please hire some fluent English speakers or at least a proofreader.) Much like so many (if not all) boards out there, fan headers don't offer much tweakability, and there's no Firewire 800 connectivity. It's also too bad that it doesn't allow SLI (just Crossfire).

Overall Review: This board offers a zillion different BIOS, connectivity ane expansion options; I probably overbought and could have spent much less on another ASUS P45 board. BTW, 16 GB RAM capacity is impressive, but just try finding a reasonable price on 4 GB sticks. In any case, I have had no issues with this board in 8 months. Here's a positive counterpoint to the buy-it-so-I-can-RMA-it guys who say that every other message board poster has had exactly the same problems.

Pros: I like express gate so i'm including it in pros. More USB than you know what to do with. More sata than you need. Still support for IDE and Floppy. 2 Firewires, and 2 USB headers on board. 4 Gigabit ports. 4 PCIe Slots. onboard power and reset buttons, clear cmos jumper, EZ-Flash is nice to do from boot/bios and express gate has an enter bios button on it; you can disable express gate if you want to in the bios. still supports PCI and PCIx1 too. The on-board audio isn't that bad actually so i didn't pull my creative card out of the other computer for once. I had no problems with Windows 7, but i didn't use the disk either.

Cons: So far, i'm not able to team under windows 7 with multiple lan ports from this mobo. But that's the oh-well part. Here's the scary part. I was forced to clear the CMOS 4 times after 3 days of running before i was finally able to get the system booted (after testing parts while doing this). Since then, no problem. Only supports multiple cards of ATI flavor; the 8-PIN power is in an awkward spot. Finally not all the PCIe ports are actually x16 if you're using more than one video card (which must be ATI). I knew that before ordering, but some might not so consider that too.

Overall Review: I freaked out at first because the box said DDR3 on it and i thought i was getting a DDR2 board. I did get the DDR2 board and dont think a ddr3 one exists so i dont know what that was all about. I didn't install the TPM chip but if you do you can disable it in the bios. The Sata ports are a pain like everyone else said, and since i had seen everyone else say that, i went ahead and put a sata cable in every one of them before closing up the case. I chose memory from the QVL (4GB 2x2GB G.Skill) and it runs great, along with a Q9550 (45nm E0 Stepping) in an Antec 900 Case. It's a stretch for the case LED/Power/Reset buttons to fit to this board. This system isn't and hasn't been overclocked so if i do so later on, i will report back. I've always used asus and this one just keeps me in that same path. Asus is a good choice.

Pros: Well-designed motherboard with support for up to 14 USB ports. Supports two separate RAID arrays via ten SATA ports (six controlled by Intel southbridge and four supported by Silicon Image chip). The TPM chip allows for encryption of files and hard drive partitions.

Cons: Angled SATA ports can be a pain access.

Overall Review: I purchased a second board to replace a failing motherboard in my Antec box. After six months the P5Q Premium continues to impress me with its stability and features. There's not much else left to say: this is THE P45-based motherboard to get. Definitely recommended.

Pros: this is a follow up i am beta testing for CM and looking for bridges still

Cons: Nice board don`t get me wrong but tech support is terrible, i contacted saphire, they said the bridge should come with the mb. so who do you believe
