Great temp board. 5/11/2011 8:58:48 PM

Pros: With "dummy" OC it ran my E7200 at 3.0ghz no problem. Runs my OCZ reapers at rated 1066mhz. Handles my 5770 also. Slot layout is pretty good even with a dual slot video card. lets you use 1 PCI E x16, PCI E x1, and a PCI slot. Great variety for basic add on cards. Sata ports aren't in the way of video card. Can be used for a hackingtosh.

Cons: Only 2 dim slots, but what do you expect from a $50 board? north bridge runs a tad to hot for my liking. Stuck a fan on my ram/NB and all was good.

Overall Review: I didn;t by this from Newegg but I got it from a local store. The board died in my rig and I had to have something. For $50 it was worth a month and half of use.

ASUS P5QPL-AM 8/2/2010 11:51:12 AM

Pros: Excellent board for what I needed it for. Supports up to Core 2 Quad processors, DDR2 memory, SATA II. Posts in less than 5 seconds for me. Nice, stable and cool.

Cons: PCI-E slot is above the PCI slots, causing anything you put in the PCI slots to be directly under your video card's fan. I cannot install anything in the first PCI slot because of this. My vid card gets way too hot.

Overall Review: For some reason, running XP with this board is a bad idea. XP freezes for about 2 minutes on startup. Have tried installing it on 2 different hard drives with different copies of XP. All results were the same. Vista and 7 work well. And if you're in to iATKOS, it works too. (version s3)

Takes 60sec to post 7/20/2010 10:16:52 AM

Pros: Not sure, kind of works..

Cons: Takes 60 seconds from power on and fans on to start bios. Sometimes doesn't post at all. Just a bad board, but needed a system board.

Overall Review: Past experience with ASUS has been sterling, this one sucks.

q9400 - 4GB OCZ 1033 OC DDR2 - 3.2Ghz cpu 7/20/2010 8:54:52 AM

Pros: excellent over clock parameters, high quality manufacture, easy to update AMI bios, crash free settings very useful, overall inexpensive, good capacitors, sata raid is nice. So if you want to over clock and use a stripe raid, and run things a bit hot and fast, this is a sweet motherboard to try.

Cons: nvidea chip seems to have some problems. board seems to break traces pretty easily when you "push in" those standard cooler pins.

Overall Review: if you over clock (why else would you consider this board?) and therefore need to attach a decent heat pipe (big) type active cooler to this board, watch out! Do not flex the board by pushing on those wiggly pins. I broke one board this way; the post card message was code E1A1; I think it is saying it can't set up the first page of memory??? So, use a counter poise for the cooler and keep it really, really, flat, or get some nylon screws and gently set the cooler into place. Carefully watch the board and make sure it does not bend as you attach the cooler.

Loved it so far. Easy setup. Not much fuss for a simple build 7/19/2010 9:57:24 PM

Pros: This is not a gamers board, so don't expect it to act like one. I loved this board. I was building a good solid machine for my mother's business and ended up doing a lot on it for what little machine it was. We coupled with a simple Pentium D 820 and 2 GB Kingston Memory and it just flys right along. If you need a good solid cheap board to build a straight forward power saving machine then you have found your board. It is really green friendly. Runs on low power consumption. Onboard video was adequate for our needs (light Photoshop editing, web browsing, office tasks). If you are a gamer, get a different board. This one is not for you.

Cons: The placement of the jumpers for the front panel buttons and hd lights and power leds is pretty far away. The cheap rosewill case that we got to put this in barely reached. I can see how some cases would have a problem. If I had a video card in it, I would've had to lengthen my cables. Over clocking abilities in Bios are very limited. Not a concern here, as stock clocks were used since it is just a business machine. Only 2 memory slots, but I listed that as a pro to, cause if you think of what the purpose of this type of board is it's sufficient, but some would complain. I thought it fine though.

Overall Review: Over all would buy again. My mother's extremely happy, and that takes an old Pentium D 820 off my shelf and gives it new life. She loves it. Absolutely loves it. . . I am thinking of building another computer on this same board with my old Q6600 and see how it performs. I still have 2 sticks of the 1 GB Kingstons left, so just a case and hard drive and well, I guess I pretty much need it all huh???? oops... Oh well.... :)

BEST MOTHERBOARD I'VE EVER HAD!!! 6/29/2010 12:21:08 PM

Pros: I use to have an ECS 945GT-M3 motherboard which had one broken RAM slot and the bios wouldn't work right. This is the best board I have had. True, I haven't had it for long, but it runs fine. I don't know why a lot of other people have had trouble, but when I got it and put it in, it worked fine. They put clear markings on the motherboard to where everything goes and has a manual that comes with it just in case you get lost. It also has a neat feature that allows you to download a program called PC Probe II which allows you to flash the bios which is basically upgrading it. You can do it on start up or while in Windows. It's neat because a while back, whenever you wanted to upgrade the bios, you would have to use a floppy disk and it didn't have much of a graphical user interface.

Cons: I have not had one problem with it so far.

Overall Review: I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a replacement motherboard like me.

DOA Do not buy! 6/24/2010 1:28:01 PM

Pros: none

Cons: I am an A+ Certified Tech with many years of pc building experience. I called ASUS before I sent the board back to NE, it had the same issue as the rest, Fan runs, light comes on, but wont post. I have built 100's of successful builds and spent thousands of dollars with Newegg. This was my first attempt at trying an to RMA anything with NE ever and probably will be my last. They sent me back a board that looks like the cpu socket has been thru a meat grinder and said I did it while installing the cpu. This type of damage could only have been caused by a screw driver or some metallic object. If you dont want to warranty the board, fine, I could have sent it to ASUS if you would not have done that. I already had a case number and everything. Thanks allot for the "RAM" job.

Overall Review: I would guess my case number with ASUS #956390 is useless but If an ASUS rep still wants to look at this let me know please.

Dead on Arrival 6/15/2010 9:44:49 AM

Pros: None, board was not working when I received it. Went through the entire diagnostic process only to come to the conclusion that the board is in fact dead. Returning this, as it is useless to me. Switching to an AMD platform, as I have yet to have any problems with AMD boards.

Cons: Dead ... it's a giant Con.

Overall Review: I love ASUS, and I will continue to use them, I refuse to let one sour moment ruin my ASUS experience.
