KGPE-D16 is based on latest AMD G34 chipset architecture to support 45nm Opteron™ 6300 / 6200 / 6100 series processors. The platform is designed for highly threaded application, delivering 16 / 12 / 8 core multi-core performance, quad HT3 links with up to 6.4GTps interconnect rate per link, and a 12MB shared L3 cache.

KGPE-D16 is designed in EEB (12" x 13") form factor, with 16 DDR3 1600* memory DIMMs to support up to 256GB (RDIMM). By supporting industrial standard PCI-E x16 (Gen2 x16 link) Full Height & Full Length Card in 1U, this board offers you the highest memory capacity without source for proprietary chassis & riser solution.

*DDR3 1600 can only be supported with AMD Opteron 6300/6200 series processor.

The ASUS Flex-E technology provides the flexibility to auto-switch between two true PCI-E x16 Link (support two double deck graphic cards) or one PCI-E x16 Link & two PCI-E x8 Link (for I/O expansion). Moreover, the boards supports ASUS MIO audio card, which offers enhanced signal-to-noise ratio in a 7.1-channel surround setup to deliver an exhilarating surround sound for professional usage.

• Board edge design: locate PIKE expansion at the edge of the board for full height card support when PIKE is installed.
