Brick 11/14/2014 3:33:36 PM

Pros: Brick, Brick, Brick, Brick, Brick, Brick, Brick, Brick, Brick, Brick, Brick, Brick, Brick, Brick, Brick, Brick, Brick, Brick, Brick, Brick, Brick, Brick, Brick, Brick, Brick, Brick and i forgot to mention brick !

Cons: A good looking brick -_-. The last few months i was wishing this thing was DOA. But no. It was refusing to post the moment i bought it. It came with worn out battery. After a bios flash and another battery it lasted 2 months. Then another trip to the shop i got it from for another battery. This cycle repeated 3 times. Now i am using my new gigabyte z97mx, and i'm trying to arrange an RMA with asus so they get back their z87-c brick and give me a working motherboard

Overall Review: Don't go for that brick it's not worth your money!!!

Does not work with the new i3 4150's 9/18/2014 1:58:24 PM

Pros: worked good with 4770k but does not support i3 4150

Cons: I just recently purchases an i3 4150 and also H97-I Plus. I ended up using the 4770k i was running on Z87-C with the H97 board and then tried to use the i3 4150 with the Z87-C. I had updated the bios for Z87-C. I tried 1802 and as well as 2004 as bios versions but nothing. The mother board does work with the 4770k, I called Asus tech support but I dont think they understood me. Its a nice budget board, but it does not work with i3 4150's, even tho its listed as supported cpu once you update the bios from the supported cpu site from ASUS

Overall Review: I wish they would actually have a fix for it, but the tech support kept telling me to update bios which I have so many times

Worked for a little over two months 5/18/2014 7:32:06 AM

Pros: Nice while it worked.

Cons: After working very well for a little over two months, one day it just stopped working. Does not even get to the BIOS splash screen.

Overall Review: For two weeks, I have been trying to arrange an RMA with ASUS, with little success.

Newegg must've gotten a bad batch 4/9/2014 9:46:36 AM

Pros: This board has been running 24/7 in a mid- to high-end machine since December, and it's not stepped one foot wrong for me. It just works exactly as it should. The only issue I had with it was incredibly small: The BIOS version it shipped with wasn't compatible with XMP profiles for memory configuration. However, a simple BIOS update and the problem was resolved. Honestly, this motherboard has been entirely trouble-free for me. I picked this board because I'm still dependent on PCI slots for some components, and this was the best board I could find with two in usable positions (I say two because this board's third PCI slot will be covered up by a dual-slot graphics card). But it's a very solid board for me with a full-featured BIOS. I've paired it with a 4770k and even got some good overclocking out of it. If overclocking is one of your goals, I would look at the Z87-A instead, as it's better equipped for the task. But, if you absolutely need those PCI slots, this is the board to get.

Cons: I suppose I'll count the XMP issue as a con, even though it's an extremely minor one. The BIOS that shipped with it wasn't compatible with XMP profiles for memory configuration, but a simple BIOS update fixed that.

Overall Review: I bought this from a local retailer instead of Newegg, but I've had none of the issues anyone here has described with the board. I suspect Newegg simply got a bad batch from Asus, which is unfair, because that reflects poorly on this model, which as far as I can tell, is perfectly fine. I'm hoping more people who need this board are willing to give it a shot, because I've had nothing but a good experience with this board. I use it for photo/video/audio work mostly, and gaming on the side, and this board has left me in no way dissatisfied.

Problem with bootable add-in cards 12/17/2013 7:22:46 AM

Pros: 6 SATA 6gb/s ports. Boots and runs Freebsd and Linux fine.

Cons: Prompts and messages from bootable add-in cards do not display on the VGA monitor port, but do display on the DVI port. This also applies to messages from the onboard Realtek ethernet NIC if PXE booting. Tested with BIOS version 1602 and several add-in cards including Intel Pro NICs and Adaptec RAID cards.
