Great looking board

Pros: Board has a very good build quality.

Cons: This board does not fit in the corsair 250D using corsairs h100i v2. When i test fit the radiator into the case the board made contact causing damage to the board. I did not ram it in there! It just doesn't fit like advertised. Now i have a damaged board that was advertised to fit into a case using the specific water cooler recommended. Newegg will not replace the board as it is considered a damaged item. Nice.

Overall Review: All i can say is that if you get this board it will not fit in the corsair 250D using the corsair h100i to cool it.

Board died after a year

Pros: -XMP profiles worked correctly. Board wasn't dead.
-Well-built. Not flimsy like some cheap boards.

Cons: -No idea what the fan extension card is for since the mounting holes do not match anything on the motherboard. I bought a splitter instead.
-Board died after a year. Also noticed some leaking from my water cooler. This could be the result of the dead board. Not sure.

Overall Review: -Would be cool if they could squeeze a PCIe x8 slot on here for SLI.

So far so good (Fsck the WIfi)

Pros: Debug LED
Dedicated Power and Reset Switch
Crisp Audio
BIOS/UEFI is better than Asrock
Wifi Drivers work on Linux out of the box

Cons: Onboard Bluetooth reaches only about 8 feet away
Onboard Wifi doesn't even compare to a 15$ Wifi USB from any online retailer
Only 4 USB 3.0 ports on the back? Really?
No M.2 Module - Sure I can use the PCI-e or U.2 with adapters but for $240 this motherboard falls short.

Overall Review: I bought this for the Debug and Power buttons, I really wanted more USB ports on the back but that was a tradeoff of getting what I expected to be a quality product.

I dropped in my Arch Linux SSD from my LGA-1366 i7 940 rig and didn't even need to rebuild initio or Rebuild grub, even the motherboard auto detected which hard drive to make primary (Or It was plugged into SATA1 and defaulted.)

I still think $240 for a Mini ITX SSD is a bit absurd, but after spending $190 and getting a DOA MSI board in the mail which didn't even have a Motherboard LED to indicate the power flow from the power supply was live - I was annoyed. I specifically choose this board for the Debug LED, and buttons.

After 2 train wrecks where the only Asrock boards I've seen have both been defective I heeded my local computer store's advice to stick to ASUS after leaving ASUS years ago.

My main gripe with asus is when they include connectors to legacy technology that make it look "old" like PS2, VGA, or Serial ports - I make a jackie chan face and say "What Year is it?"

I think I may buy a second as it's nice to have a Mini ITX in a Corsair 380t, the mobility is much better than a Full ATX size.

If I was going to see a successor to this board I would expect it to include more USB ports and a M.2 slot, I love the 8-pin power placement.

The AS97/HD Audio cable placement threw me off at first since it's not on the motherboard but comes out of the back of the Audio tower in the picture, the glowing of the audio ports in the back was a excellent and drawing perk of this board.

So far so good, no more MSI or Asrock for me.

Dear Loren,

Thank you for sharing your input on the Maximus VIII Impact. I'm sorry to hear about the issues with your Wi-Fi and please accept our apologies for any inconvenience. For omptimal Wi-Fi connectivity, install Wi-Fi Driver Version 12.0.0.137 and ensure that the antenna is at least 20 cm away from all persons and devices. Doucle check that your Wi-Fi bolt connectors are firmly installed to your motherboard's I/O shield's Wi-Fi port hole. I'll make sure to forward your review to the related department for ongoing improvements to the product line. If you need help, contact me at cl-nestor@asus.com.

Thank you for choosing ASUS!

BEWARE THE ONBOARD WIFI

Pros: - Beautiful, well-built
- Was on sale during Black Friday :)
- U.2 connector

Cons: - The onboard Atheros wi-fi is TOTAL TRASH

Overall Review: Words cannot express how frustrated I am with this product. After a 4 hour build, I fired up Windows to find that I'd receive intermittent disconnections from Wi-Fi, despite being located only 8 feet away from a $300 AC router. Not only that, but the 5G network only gave me 2 bars. I Googled to find that I wasn't the only one with this issue--apparently if you're a torrenter, if you stream from a NAS, or just download some games from Steam, your Wi-Fi WILL disconnect, and it will disconnect often. This is completely unacceptable for a high-end product.

The only fix for this is either to roll the dice with another board, or replace the Atheros chip yourself (I recommend the Intel 7260NGW, which can be had for $20). All-in-all, I spent another $25 including shipping and 4 hours to disassemble and reassemble everything, which, if you've ever built mITX, you know how much of a hassle this is.

Do yourself a favor and buy another board.

None of these work! DON'T BUY!!!!

Pros: I wish I could tell you the Pros....

Cons: I bought this mother board along with all brand new components in February 2016. This is going to be the 3rd time I return it. The 1st one was dead on arrival, but before then I had to return everything else because I was told that it should be working and maybe my ram is not compatible. I work from my PC, and I had to send each component back to manufacturer each month because I am on a tight budget and can't afford to send everything back all at once. that last thing i sent was my i7 6700k. its now Dec. 2016 and i am having to send in the motherboard for the 3rd time because it wont read both ram sticks and wont let windows boot up even with one. Almost a whole year later and i still don't have my PC up and running. Ever since i built my 1st pc 15 years ago i stuck with asus because it was a name i could trust. Not anymore. I wont ever buy another asus product again. Ill make sure all the pc i build for my clients won't be asus either.

About as good as it gets for enthusiast Mini-ITX builds.

Pros: - Excellent BIOS. Looks great, supports mouse input, has tons of options and is easy to use for overclocking.
- Has just about everything you'll need for an enthusiast build, from discrete audio to U.2 to USB 3.0.
- Looks good, has some useful additions and displays on the back panel. RGB LEDs in the audio ports are also a nice touch.

Cons: - Doesn't have M.2 SSD or USB 2.0 connections
- Several tall components on the board might impede airflow or make cable routing a little more difficult for small form factor builds.
