Question 1

I am really looking into buying a Samsung SSD 960 PRO NVMe M.2 2TB but am not sure if this motherboard is capable of housing it or if there would be a compatibility issue. Does anyone have the answer to this?

yes it fit fine you must remove  a plastic cover and leve it off or use the second slot but the ssd stick will then be standing  straight up witjh no protection. I am using the 1 tb 960 pro m2 with no proble. the NVME part only works in rad mode with 2  m2 ssd

Are the m.2 slots PCI-E x4 32gbs slots?  Can you boot the OS from these m.2 slots using a nvme PCI-E x4 32gbs ssd....say the samsung 960 PRO or EVO?

I haven't tried those newly m.2 nvme, the user guide says * M.2_1 socket supports PCIe 3.0 x4 and SATA mode M key design and type 2242/3360/2280 PCIe storage devices * M.2_2 socket supports PCIe 3.0 x4 M key design and type 2242/3360/2280 PCIe storage devices.
I think you can install and boot OS from this M.2 SSD module by bios settings.

Question 3

Im building a black and white theme, can/does the leds on this MB support just being white including the ROG logo?

Yes, you can't do it in the bios. You have to download a utility called "Aura" (I think that is the name). You can get it from the Asus web site. It will let you pick lighting effects, sync wilt compatabll devices or just choose a single color that will not cycle into other colors. I have mine set to blue only but you can pick the color.

Am I correct that you need to use a wireless keyboard and mouse for this board?

No, USB can be used for both keyboard and mouse, which is how I have it setup.

Does it come with motherboard mount screws? (Mine did not)

It does not. Usually any motherboard mount screws come with the case, and not the motherboard or any other parts. That's been my experience at least.

Will this mobo work with G.SKILL TridentZ RGB Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 4000 (PC4 32000) Desktop Memory Model F4-4000C18D-16GTZR?

I bought these for the Asus Formula ix and while they do work, getting them to clock at the advertised speed is not that simple. I've heard other Ram is much easier to configure for this board. If you have any hesitations about configuration on your own don't buy it. Until it more straightforward that's my answer.

Question 7

I am trying to decide between the Code and the Formula. I've built many PCs already, but this is my first attempt at a custom cooling loop. I've read a couple of articles and according to them the Formula supports custom loops while the Code does not. Is this true or has anyone been able to successful build a cooling loop using this motherboard?

The biggest difference is the Formula comes with a water block for the Power Mosfets and the Code don't. You can make a custom loop for the CPU, GPU and RAM for any motherboard. It's just the Formula comes with a water block already on the motherboard to cool the PWM area and saves a good amount of money ($100-$150) if you was thinking about cooling that in your loop. Personally I have bought the Formula for a older chipset ( Z77 ) and never used the block that comes with the Formula.  To be honest unless you are pushing tons of volts through the mosfets for a long time there is no need to cool them with water. Other than it looks cool. And yes I am using a custom water cooled setup with my IX Code MB...

Question 8

I plan to buy Asus ROG  Maximus IX Code and max out at 64 gb of memory; can someone recommend the best ram (brand & speed) for this mobo?

You really need to research RAM that is out of the box certified for this board.  I installed 32GBs  of GSkill Trident RAM that was stated as compatible on both manufacturer's QVL lists and no matter how I reconfigure the parameters, I continue to experience the same error code, informing me that no RAM memory is installed.  Asus and GSkill have both responded to my tech support queries with potential variations on prior attempts ...  Check back as I may have a better answer for you (hopefully) near future.

First time PC Builder question:  I see that it has "3 x 4-Pin Chassis fan connectors."  If I want to run 4 case fans, does this mean I need a fan controller?

This board has a High output fan header, thus allowing you to run more than one fan off this header via a splitter cable.

Question 10

Anyone know if the two m.2 can be run in ACHI so you could have two independent m.2 drives ?

I installed 2 M.2, one as a boot drive, 2nd for high speed storage. I also have 2 6TB Seagate running of SATA for extra storage. All runs well.
