I used it with intel i7 quard core CPU.
But if you want to make gaming pc, you need
add good graphic card.

yes you can, this motherboard have PCI Express slot .... but you'll have to make sure that you have space in your computer case and you have additional power supply for the GTX580.... it is BIG graphic card.... good luck!

Is this board compatible with a Gateway desktop m#DX4870-UB20P?

From what I can find online about that Gateway, this SHOULD be compatible as both are listed as micro-ATX form factor motherboards with CPU socket 1155.

The main difference appears to be that the Gateway stock mobo has 4 RAM slots where this one has only 2.

Does this mobo support IVY BRIDGE OUT OF BOX? or should i first update it using a SB processor? coz i am thinking of purchasing it and finding a SB processor for sake of bios update will be hectic. Thank you

Ivy bridge is 3rd generation. It says right on the box that the mobo supports 2nd & 3rd gen cpu's. Therefore it should work just fine without any need to update the bios.

this board seems really small, will this definitely work with an ATX case that supports micro ATX, specifically the Rosewill Challenger case?

I have this MB in a rather old ATX case.  I have had no problems with it fitting.  All the holes lined up. It looks rather small in the case.  It replaces a full size ATX MB.  I'm cheap and didn't want to spend the $$$ on a new case.    I am running Ubuntu Linux and have had no problems.

Someone said this board isn't for gaming. My question is why not? It has a PCI-E 3.0 16x slot, can hold up to 16gb of ram, and can be used with a core i7.

I've been gaming on this for a year now. Currently have a gtx780, a core i5@ 3.4 ghz, and 8gb ram. Runs everything at ultra without a hitch. No reason to not use this as a budget gaming mobo.
