No, DDR4 only.  The listed speeds are shown in the description of the product but I will also paste them here.

what is the best case to choose from to fit this MB. any suggestions?

I chose a full size ATX case even though the next size smaller would work. My pick for a brand was the Fractal Design - XL (Full Size ATX) R2 Titanium. QUIET and oh so versatile. Choose a quality power supply and you won't hear any fans running. Hope this helps. My MSI MB has been running flawlessly now for 4 months!

Will this board run the i7 - 7700 Kaby Lake 4.2 ?

Accepted Answer

No- According to MSI the 300 series motherboards including the MSI Z370 Gaming 5 are made for the Intel Coffee Lake family of processors like the i5 8400 or the i7 8700k.  Not for the Kaby Lake family like the i7 7700k you mentioned.  You need a Z270 mobo for that i7 7700k processor.

is there only rgb lighting in that one part in the picture or is the wording on the rest of the board lit up aswell

The Dragon Logo ,"MSi", "Gaming M5", "Enthusiast", and "Gaming" fonts are just printed on and do not light up.  There is also a thin line of RGB on the left side of the board, but most of that lighting will be obscured by the various Graphics Cards or PCI-e devices that you attach to the motherboard.  Most of my case lighting comes from the RGB Ram and RGB 1080ti.

Can the lights be disabled on this motherboard?

I haven't installed the MOBO yet, as it's a Christmas gift. But on MSI graphics cards, you can use the MSI Gaming App to disable lighting. I imagine it will work on the MOBO's also.

ther are only one bios rom of this board. no dual bios for switch/backup purpose.

After about a week and a half, only using the rig for productivity and very light gaming, I have experienced no issues with lan performance.

Will the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO block any RAM slots or require the use of low profile RAM on this board?

I am using the 212 EVO, and it's cooling my I5-8600k just fine.  I have 2 x 8 gig sticks of XPG memory installed (AX4U300038G16-DRG).  In a 2 stick config, there are no problems with the 212.  In a 4-stick config, there could be a problem with the memory slot closest to the CPU, depending on the height of the heat sinks on your memory.  The other 3 slots are not affected by the 212 EVO.   With my XPG heat sink height and a nudge up to the cooler fan, I could do the 4 stick config with no issues.
