Comments: Used this MB with the Antec Aria and XP2700 three months ago - mostly because it had all the necessary USB and FireWire connections. Completely stable and no problems.
Comments: I bought this board to upgrade a friends computer with based on the IGP and the cheap price-coupled with shuttles great reputation. There are SOME boards I wouldnt buy at any price! One caveat--MUST use at least win98se like it says on the box-OR at least I tried win98 first edition and its a NO GO! it works, BUT only to boot up, accessories are not able to impement with win98, I went out and bought winxp, installed it, and voila! Works like a charm! everything worked perfectly after that. One hardware problem. the onboard LAN was working but was going in and out intermittently. I fumbled with the plug and figured out that was the cause. turns out with a cheap cat-5 cable I had, it would slide in too far and not work continuously. but once I replaced it with a better cable, I had zero problems. So-good board just keep those two things in mind.
Comments: I got this motherboard about a month ago and it has worked flawlessly. I am running an Athlon XP 1800+ @ 1.91 and have had no stability issues at all. I picked up this board because it was one of the few boards with the NVIDIA Sound Storm and that would fit in the Antec Aria. I had heard that the Sound Storm was awesome but nothing prepared me for what I was about to hear, it is great!!!! I had an Audigy2 before this and I think the Sound Storm is every bit as good, maybe even better!!!! I strongly recommend this board to anyone that has a small case and wants a very fast and affordable system, sure it isn’t the fastest, but you can pair this board with a 2800 Barton and still come in right at 200 dollars. You can’t even buy a top 754 CPU for twice that, and really, are they THAT much better? I would give this board a ten if I could.
Comments: I have used this board twice now, once with Athlon XP2000 and the second with Athlon XP2500 (Barton). Both times installation was a snap and the board performed flawlessly. It has a lot of features for the price, including firewire and lots of usb. The on board video is a lot better than you would expect. The first time you boot, hit del to enter bios setup and choose the optimal performance setting and then go back later and change whatever. For some reason the fsb is set too low on the first boot.
Comments: Picked up this unit a few months ago and had isuues with it untill I got away from the Win98SE OS, since XP its worked quite well except for:
1)a required upgrade of the nVidia IDE drivers to recognize my DD0401 DVD burner
2) my networked DVD player (goVideo D2730) would 'hiccup' playing my mpeg's over my 10/100 network, which I finally traced to the onboard network card. New drivers did not change this (for all other purposes the onbd network worked fine- as far as I could tell). Finally got around it by disabling the onboard and installing a D-link 10/100 card. Works great now.
Overall I'm satisfied with the M/B. BTW- it's in use with a TV card and BeyondTV (snapstream.com) as a PVR, working very well. I stream the saved mpeg shows to my (rather old) TV via the GoVideo unit.
Comments: Once you upgrade the BIOS that is. Like many others, I was getting video corruption and crashes. I installed the latest BIOS which automatically disables RAM precharge, and voila! Completely stable system. Hard to beat the value in this board. Note the pictures don't show a firewire bracket, but one IS included.
It's been working great teamed with an Antec Minuet, WD JB 80GB drive, 512 MB corsair 3200 RAM, and a Barton2500+ at stock speeds.
Only layout issue is that the front panel sound connectors when connected obstruct PCI2 slot.
Comments: Love this board. I've had it for about a month now and had no problems. It fired up from the get go. It came with and extra two usb ports and two firewire ports, cant complain about that. And, for those of you who want to overclock, you can do a little. You can change the FSB, just not the voltage settings.
Comments: built the pc three months ago using this mobo.win xp pro.amd barton 2500/corsair pc 3200 512mg ..added a good heatsink and 4 fans and the machine runs at 30c and the amd hasnt past 34c ..no tweaks..for the price and the easy install would recommend the mobo to anyone
